Question 3 – What kind of media institution might distribute your media
product and why?
IPC advertising.
I chose IPC advertising to publish my magazine “Passion” because they
publish similar music genre’s and popular music by day. IPC Insight
represents a step-change in how a media owner shares its customer
understanding with advertisers. Through continuous investigations into
consumer lifestyle, attitudes, behaviour and buying patterns, IPC ensures
that advertisers have the best understanding of the people to whom they
are advertising. This is vital for my magazine as its aimed at indie people.
IPC Media is a leading multimedia publisher, producing consumer content
across multiple platforms through both brand extension and our definitive
web portals for our key audiences. They have a record for distribution – this
is fundamental for getting my magazines into shops – on shelves.
 IPC Digital Sales provides advertisers with a single point of contact to
access the entire IPC online portfolio. Reaching in excess of 25 million
unique users every month, across more than 30 sites – including
www.nme.com - The award winning NME.com amous for its ground-
breaking music news, breadth of reviews and in-depth features. 
 In terms of who I would want to advertise, I would start with Jack Wills as
many people who would buy my magazine would know about Jack
Wills/shop there. This would fit my target audience as the people who shop
their are 16-25
 The second option would be iphone – as most of my target audience would
own an apple device/iphone
 My final option would be viva or xbox as many people these days own a
console or hang around in groups and play.
The budget is limited but creating a facebook, youtube or twitter page is free –
this would increase the people knowing about my magainze.
I wouldn’t advertise too much online as magazines are bought in shops not
often online – this would be a lost cause and a loss in money. There is only
a small amount of advertising that can be done online. A facebook group
could be created to inform more people about the magazine but to also
keep up with giggs that could be going on. They could find out prices etc.
 I’d have an app that could be downloaded from android phones. This would
help people keep up to date, or find out when the next magazine shall be
out on shelves. As everyone in my target audience will have a phone this is
essential.
 My magazine will be available on ipads
and ipods – this is because many people
carry these electronical devices around
everywhere on their way to work on the
train or bus so this is convenient for the
public. They shall also be available at
newsagents and shops, this is where
newstand comes in.
 Fashion is a big part of the magazine as
whatever the artist/band wears usually
appeals to the target audience/public
reading it. As this is the case, the magazine
will contain the name of shops where the
artist have bought their items from. This is
publicity and advertising for the companies
which usually helps in sale for them.

I wouldn’t advertise too much online as magazines are bought in shops not often online – this would be a lost cause and a loss in money. There is only a small amount of advertising that can be done online. A facebook group could be created to inform more people about the magazine but to also keep up with giggs that could be going on. They could find out prices etc.
  • 4.  I’d have an app that could be downloaded from android phones. This would help people keep up to date, or find out when the next magazine shall be out on shelves. As everyone in my target audience will have a phone this is essential.
  • 5.  My magazine will be available on ipads and ipods – this is because many people carry these electronical devices around everywhere on their way to work on the train or bus so this is convenient for the public. They shall also be available at newsagents and shops, this is where newstand comes in.
  • 6.  Fashion is a big part of the magazine as whatever the artist/band wears usually appeals to the target audience/public reading it. As this is the case, the magazine will contain the name of shops where the artist have bought their items from. This is publicity and advertising for the companies which usually helps in sale for them.
