6. Advisor homepages are a portal to main site areas and a key space to promote funds, services and commentary.
This category evaluates the different ways firms promote their content as well as how homepages are designed
and organized. Promotions for products and commentary are critical grading points. More favorable grades are
assigned to advisor homepages with customizable sections, such as watch lists or favorite document capabilities.
Personalization of homepage content, including targeted commentary and the availability of wholesaler contact
information, also beneficially impact firms’ rankings.

7. Commentary and Thought Leadership

Asset managers can differentiate themselves from competitors by providing information that advisors can use
toward making informed decisions for their clients. This type of information is often most available through thought
leadership and commentary. Leading firms release commentaries and thought leadership pieces on a consistent
schedule and cover the most relevant topics to advisors. Firms that communicate their unique expertise within the
investing climate are graded more favorably.

J.P. Morgan maintains gold for a second year in a row
for its reputable syndicated reports and exemplary
weekly updates. Commentary and thought leadership
materials are available in a wide variety of formats
including webpage articles, slide decks, PDFs, videos
and audio.

8. Literature Order Systems

Literature centers are important hubs that equip advisors with the resources they need to connect with clients and
prospects. Efficient literature centers provide ample client-ready materials, brochures, PDFs, forms and fund
documents. For comparative grading within this category, we examine ease of access, depth of item descriptions,
availability of browse and search capabilities, shopping cart technology and order tracking options. We favor firms
with features like prominently viewable carts, detailed document descriptions, dynamic navigation controls with
powerful search options and useful filters to pare down results.

options, a search section that stores past queries, the
capability to mail materials directly to clients and an
easy-to-use shopping cart with prominent accessibility,
helping the firm maintain the gold position for a fifth
consecutive year.

9. Multimedia

This category recognizes firms that effectively use multimedia to enhance the advisor experience. Our review
assesses the availability and quality of audio and video resources. We also assess the quality of webinars and
replays. Medal winners do not necessarily need to be strong in all three formats of multimedia. Attributes such as
location, presentation and design, scope and relevancy of topics are most important in the grading process.

multimedia resources that include informative video
commentaries as well as timely webcasts, podcasts
and conference calls. Multimedia resources are
available through the Video Library and Webinars &
Calls pages, and the firm added new section this past

Advisors should ensure that their clients are well-informed and confident when it comes to understanding benefits,
opportunities, limitations and best practices of investing. Financial literacy is integral to the long-term success of
any investor, and client-approved resources help advisors facilitate important dialogue about sensitive topics,
important decisions and investment opportunities. This category recognizes exemplary client education resources
offered by coverage group firms, evaluating their accessibility, the scope of topics they cover and the presentation,
quality and depth of their financial literacy materials.

education materials that are easy to locate, come in a
variety of formats and cover a wide scope of topics to
inform novice, midrange and seasoned investors.
Materials are easily findable through the Investment
Education page, which features a panel of filters
organizing resources into five topics: Asset Allocation,
Bonds, Investing Topics, Volatility and Inflation.

11. New Tools

Our final category recognizes exceptional tools released by our coverage group since our last awards report. This
category considers every tool across all financial planning purposes (e.g., portfolio construction, market tracking
and benchmarking investment opportunities). Usefulness to advisors in their daily practice and quality of results
are the most critical aspects to receiving a medal. Tools that let advisors create customized, client-ready reports
receive additional points. Value-added features, including the ability to save or share results, and educational
content, such as methodologies, videos and supplemental materials, also help tools gain accolades.

The Factor eXposure Tool from Invesco earns the gold
medal for this year’s best new tool. The tool helps
advisors understand the intricacies of factor investing
and enables them to build sample portfolios that test
against a wide range of return and risk characteristics.
Invesco positions the tool as a supplemental resource
for its PowerShares line of business, which offers a
variety of single-factor and multi-factor ETFs.
