Concept
The conceptof my video is one that will focuson two men. They have
both fell in lovewith the same girl, and similarly both been hurt by
the same girl. Wewill see both men separately, and how even though
they might not know each other, they are both in the exact same
position and have morein common than hey would initially think. It
is the concept of being dragged in by a girl, falling in lovethen all of
that being taken away. The video will start with both men, whilst the
instrumentalsare starting,. The men will each be in their own space,
expressingtheir depression, sadnessand heartbreak through various
actions and movements, in addition with the dark lighting and tones.
For the first verse, the first man will be in his bedroom, alongwith
another coupleof places he goes to ‘think’. This links with the
tendency that many peopleareover thinkers and can never get
anything off their mind. This will be combined with flashbacks of the
man rememberinggood times he had with his former lover, these
flashbacks will follow through to the chorus, and justbefore the
second man starts singing the next verse, the two men will walk past
each other and glance at one another. This will show the connection
between these two men. The second man will then sing his
verse; this is where wewill see how similar the two men are
emotionally, dueto being heartbroken by the same girl.

Narrative and Performance
The narrativeand performancein my video will go together hand in
hand. I want the audienceto be able to relate to the men in the video
and the overallidea and concept. There will not be any
choreographed dancingin my video. This is because there is no need
for this in my video; within my genre it is moreabout the music
rather than performance, and artistswant the audienceto
understand thelyrics and meaningsbehind the songrather than
distracting them with an over the top performance/danceroutine.
Alternatively, the video will be fairly slow paced, and will be
followingthe singers’ lives and how they deal with their heartbreak.
They will be lip-synching the song and we will see how muchthe
lyrics relate to their lives as wefollow the narrative. This makes for a
very emotionaland relatable narrative. This will also relate to the
lyrics of the song, and most importantly the title of the song‘I Miss
You’. The narrativewill continuethrough to the end of the song,
however, it will be left for the audienceto decideand think about
what has happened to the singers from that moment. Questions could
be asked like ‘Did they find someoneelse?’ The ultimate aim for my
video is to portray the feelings and emotions associated with
relationships and heartbreak, this is something that a large
proportion of the audiencecan relate to.

Depression
The theme of depression willbe portrayed a number of times in my
video, and will be the main focus. The reason for this is to show how
much breakingup with someonecan affect a person mentally as well
as physically. The singers will both be feeling sad, depressed and
lonely. All of these feelings can be linked to the overall theme of
depression. The singers being alone will show loneliness, it is only
them and their thoughts. The heartbreak they have endured causes
them to overthink and this increases depression further as it creates
problemsthat aren’t even there. Wewill be able to see in the video
that both singers are in a very bad place mentally. Many different
things will contributeto this includinglighting, which will be quite
dark to emphasise the feeling of lonelinessand unhappiness. Also,
the mise en scene in my video will be linked to the theme of
depression. Somebody who is in a really bad state of mind will tend
to be alone, and go to a place where they feel relaxed and can think
freely, it is like their sanctuary. A place that onesinger will go to is a
pond, it is quite secluded and this once again linksto the fact that he
is feeling lonely and sad.
Love
The theme of loveand overall happinessin a relationship will also be
shown in this video. This willbe used to contrast the theme of
sadnessand depression. I willshow this by creating flashbacks. Both
singers will have flashbacks to times they have spent with the same
girl. In these flashbacks, lighting will be morehigh key, shots will
appear quicker and there will be a noticeable increase in the mood of
the video. The reason I am usingflashbacks is to how the audience
that the singer is remembering all of the good and happy times they
have had, but all of that can mean nothing in the end, as they have
still gotten their heartbroken. Although this still leaves the
opportunity for thought, that even though it did not work outwith
one girl, they could still be happy again.

Camera and Editing
There will be a number of differentcamera shots and editing
techniques used in my musicvideo. Some examples includeMCU,
which will give the audiencethe chance to see in detail how the
singer is feeling through their facial expressions. Another shot that
will be used is a high angle shot, this will be used to show the
vulnerability of the singer, he is hurtand heartbroken and right now
he is so vulnerableto the world, butalso to his own mind and
thoughts. These camera shots all link to the theme of depression.
There ill be slow-paced editing in my video, to show the seriousness
of the lyrics, and so the audiencehave a chance to really see and feel
the emotion in the video.
Lighting
There will be contrasting lighting in my video. Duringthe present
time, lighting will be very dark, gloomy, low key and will portray the
singers feeling of sadness and depression, dueto the heartbreak they
have endured. However, duringtheflashbacks in my video, the
lighting will be much morehigh key and vibrant, to representthe
happy times that the singer and their former lover experienced. It
will show the audiencethat even though there are times of
unhappiness, thereare also times of happiness. The lighting is oneof
the most importantelements in my video because it will be used to
really emphasise the emotion within the songand the video.
