The City Council meeting covered the thoroughfare plan to widen Rock Prairie Road from 4 to 6 lanes between State Highway 6 and Wellborn Road due to increasing traffic volumes. The meeting reviewed current traffic conditions at intersections along Rock Prairie Road and challenges at the Longmire intersection. It was recommended to proceed with acquiring right-of-way funded by a 2008 bond to widen Rock Prairie Road based on traffic modeling that considered new developments and anticipated hospital traffic in the area.
