17. The realization [behind creation of the [Internet] was, "It
isn't the cables, it is the computers which are
interesting".
[World Wide Web] the realization was "It isn't the
computers, but the documents which are interesting".
Now, people are making another mental move. There is
realization now, "It's not the documents, it is the things
they are about which are important”.
-Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web
30. Linked data, combined with other techs such as
text mining, also as tremendous potential for
improving the production of systematic
reviews but I only have 10 minutes so sticking
to dissemination in this talk!

32. Enhancing and Improving Reading experience
Readers control their experience of the content
Concept based exploration, fact based
reading, concept based networks of
documents, the document is an interface to the
web of data…
Based on knowledge not on
characters, knowledge modeling, community
effort…
Brings together the semantic web and the social
web all at once, both in one product
development platform.

The theme of this Colloquium is “Better knowledge for better health“. The questions then are: how do facilitate the faster, more efficient production of this knowledge for decision-making, and how do get that knowledge to the people who need it. The answer is, partially, via smarter and better use of technology. But, it‘s not just technology it‘s also people and process.Explain #CochraneTech. My goal today is to hopefully make you all see our knowledge in a slightly different way than you‘ve perhaps done so to date. Hello - Hal joke - knowledge - escaping Cs - nimble - linked data - need all of CC, esp methods - future (open everything - dream states - new evidence Hal - living SRs - programmatic - Marcia Von Mullen - EbHC os look like? - what if we got what we wanted, all the data from all trials? Need in computable for at based on open standards (linked data RDF) - IFTTT world - end with we have amazing people and amazing mission and amazing knowledge - I'm confident that Cochrane can evolve to meet these challenges, can make our content nimble so that it meets users needs and be the place for evidence for healthcare decision-making in the future... Thank you, merci :-)Tell content story. One-size-fits-all > users have different needs, different approaches to exploring our content > leave container (785-page, printer, dude shopping for data, iPad) > future is nimble > linked data > norm macdonald > graphs of knowledge > start anywhere go anywhere > demo site user journey > convos around CC (folks above! Notes) > future stuff (github, data pub, nano pubs, what if we got what we want, OA will follow OD (ODI, govts starting), HAL/Siri, EbHC OS, living SRs, human evidence project (show network istockphoto) credit Julian > fertig!!!!
Escape containers! They are not serving us, will soon be free, etc.
Just so you can visualize the potential application of this: In this Pubmed search, each Cochrane box has pointers to the Cochrane review(s) that included that trial.

A little over 2 years ago, we started a project in cochrane to explore using so-called linked data and semantic technologies. We journeyed into „outside the container thinking“. But, first what is this linked data thing...
Every presentation about the web and technology nowadays has to include a cloud image!!
It‘s called the CDSR – linked data is partially about returning the knowledge, information and data in reviews back into a database format that can be queried.Add to start anywhere go anywhere - We have 5,000+ databases, interfaces to a web of trial data. The CLib is better conceptualizer that way. Linked data is partially about surfacing those relationships for our users... AND - Add FDA approval or similar or available or others ask LorneOur experience so far in the proof of concept phase has shown great potential for a range of applications including- improving search- querying across reviews- helping with nma and comparing multiple interventions- and potentially, combined with text mining and NLP and other tech and process improvements the production process.
But, it‘s also important for Cochrane because the world is moving this direction...
Living systematic reviews are high quality, up to date online summaries of health care research that are updated as new research becomes available, consistent with the vision of the pioneering OxfordDatabase of Perinatal Trials to “includea library of trialoverviews, which will be updated when new databecome available”[42].
