- The theme of this Colloquium is “Better knowledge for better health“. The questions then are: how do facilitate the faster, more efficient production of this knowledge for decision-making, and how do get that knowledge to the people who need it. The answer is, partially, via smarter and better use of technology. But, it‘s not just technology it‘s also people and process.Explain #CochraneTech.My goal today is to hopefully make you all see our knowledge in a slightly different way than you‘ve perhaps done so to date. - A little over 2 years ago, we started a project in cochrane to explore using so-called linked data and semantic technologies. We journeyed into „outside the container thinking“. But, first what is this linked data thing...
- Every presentation about the web and technology nowadays has to include a cloud image!!
- It‘s called the CDSR – linked data is partially about returning the knowledge, information and data in reviews back into a database format that can be queried.Add to start anywhere go anywhere - We have 5,000+ databases, interfaces to a web of trial data. The CLib is better conceptualizer that way. Linked data is partially about surfacing those relationships for our users... AND - Add FDA approval or similar or available or others ask LorneOur experience so far in the proof of concept phase has shown great potential for a range of applications including- improving search- querying across reviews- helping with nma and comparing multiple interventions- and potentially, combined with text mining and NLP and other tech and process improvements the production process.
- But, it‘s also important for Cochrane because the world is moving this direction...
