3. • A Native Application (Native App) is
an application program that has been developed for
use on a particular platform or device.
• Because native apps are written for a specific
platform, they can interact with, and take advantage of
operating system features and other software that is
typically installed on that platform.
4. • Native apps provide the functionality, user
experience and performance beyond the capabilities
of Hybrid and Web apps.
• Native apps require significant resources to build and
are not cross-platform compatible.
• Native app developers need to know the platform
specific (Objective C, Java, .NET, etc.) languages to
create mobile apps.
6. iPhone, iOS, iPad, Wearable
• Objective C - Objective-C is a general-purpose,
object-oriented programming language that adds
Smalltalk-style messaging to the C programming
language. This is the main programming language
used by Apple for the OS X and iOS operating
systems and their respective APIs, Cocoa and
Cocoa Touch.
• Swift - Swift is a general-purpose, multi-paradigm,
compiled programming language created for iOS,
OS X, watchOS, tvOS and Linux developed by Apple
Inc. Swift is designed to work with Apple's Cocoa
and Cocoa Touch frameworks and the large body of
existing Objective-C code written for Apple
products.
7. Android Technology
• Java - Java is a programming language. It was first
developed by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems,
which is now a part of Oracle Corporation. It was
released in 1995 as a part of Sun Microsystems'
Java platform. The language has developed much
of its syntax from C and C++.
• Kotlin - Kotlin is a statically-typed programming
language that runs on the Java Virtual Machine
and also can be compiled to JavaScript source
code. Its primary development is from a team of
JetBrains programmers based in Saint Petersburg,
Russia (the name comes from the Kotlin Island,
near St. Petersburg).
10. Android still more popular than iOS
• Android continues to be the most popular platform
for organizations and individual developers, with
87 per cent of respondents saying they are
targeting the Android platform.
• iOS has closed the margin, with 77 per cent of
respondents saying they are targeting iOS—the
difference last year was 14 per cent.
• Interestingly, non-native development seems to be
decreasing slightly: 50 per cent of respondents say
they are developing for web or hybrid (down from
56 per ecnt last year).

11. Cross-platform tools used by nearly
half of mobile developed
• 51 per cent of respondents say they or their
organizations are using cross-platform tools such
as Apache Cordova/ PhoneGap, up from 41 per
cnet last year.
• This is the most popular type of mobile tool, with
IaaS/PaaS as the second most crucial
development utility at 29 per cent usage (up from
20 per cent last year).

12. Cross-platform tools used by nearly
half of mobile developed
• Java is very popular in this group of
enterprise developers (74 per cent), more
popular, in fact than HTML/ CSS (70 per cent)
or JavaScript (70 per cent).
• Objective-C for iOS is fourth with 51 per
cent, while Swift is being adopted quickly
(already at 22 per cent). C#, the language of
Windows Phone, is fifth with 25 per cent.

14. • Great performance - Native apps are
developed specifically for a given
operational system so they are faster and
more refined than their hybrid
counterparts, making them a perfect match
for high-performance applications and
games.
• Better UX - Both Android and iOS apps
have some individual characteristics, which
feel natural for their users.

15. • Easier access to built-in capabilities -
native apps have no problem tapping into
all the device’s functionalities, such as:
camera, microphone, calendar, GPS etc.
while hybrid apps grant only a limited
access to them.
• The audience - native apps can be
discovered more easily by users in the App
Store, therefore reaching your potential
clients might be easier.

16. • Internet connection is not always a must -
Depending on the functionality, native apps
don’t necessarily require internet connection
to work (when it comes to hybrid apps, it is
usually a must)
