2. Introduction
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Glory to thee, our God, glory to thee.
O heavenly King, O Comforter, the Spirit of truth, who art in all
places and fillest all things; Treasury of good things and Giver of
life: Come and dwell in us and cleanse us from every stain, and
save our souls, O gracious Lord.
Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal: have mercy on us.
If you are praying with another person – read responsively
where appropriate
3. The Psalm – Psalm 27
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
1
The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
2
When the wicked advance against me to devour me,
it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall.
3
Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.
4
One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
5
For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.
6
Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me;
at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to
the LORD
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
4. Short Reading and Meditation
If you do away with the
accusing finger and
malicious talk, if you give
what is yours for the
hungry, then your light
will rise in the darkness
and your darkest hour will
be like the middle of the
day.
Thought for Today
Where does our confidence
come from? If we rely only
on ourselves, we will surely
falter. And if we rely on
others, they will one day fail
us. The readings today
remind us that we are most
secure when we give freely
to others. That is, when we
make God's house our
dwelling place and do His
work. We need not fear any
enemy, for the Lord is
greater than them all.
Isaiah 58:7-10
5. Prayer
Pray Silently or Aloud for Others and Yourself
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayers.
O Sovereign and almighty Lord, bless all thy people, and all thy
flock. Give thy peace, thy help, thy love unto us thy servants,
the sheep of thy fold, that we may be united in the bond of
peace and love, one body and one spirit, in one hope of our
calling, in thy divine and boundless love.
