  1. DAILY LESSON LOG School Grade Level 7 Teacher Learning Area Mathematics Teaching Dates & Time (WEEK 1) Quarter I Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday I. OBJECTIVES A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of sets and the real number system. B. Performance Standards The learner is able to formulate challenging situations involving sets and real numbers and solve these in a variety of strategies. C. Learning Competencies / Objectives  describe well-defined sets, subsets, universal sets, and the null set and cardinality of sets.  describe well-defined sets, subsets, universal sets, and the null set and cardinality of sets. II. CONTENT Sets: An Introduction Sets: An Introduction III. LEARNING RESOURCES A. References 1. Teacher’s Guide pages 2. Learner’s Materials pages 3. Textbook pages 4. Additional Materials from Learning Resource (LR) portal B. Other Learning Resources IV. PROCEDURES A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson Let the students list down words/terms which are related to set. Have a review on the definition and example of sets. B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson Activity: The pictures of objects will be presented to the students. Let them group the objects as they see fit and label each group.
  2. Guide questions will be given to them. C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson Presentation of the output of the students and their answers to the guide questions. D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1 Discuss the definition of SET. Discuss the important terms related to set: (set, subset, proper subset, universal set, null set and cardinality of a set) E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2 Discuss the notations and symbols pertaining to sets. F. Developing mastery (Leads to Formative Assessment) Problem: Consider the set consisting of whole numbers from 1 to 200. Let this be set U. Form smaller sets consisting of elements of U that share different characteristics. Can you form three more sets? How many are there in each of these sets? Do any of these sets have any elements in common? Did you think of a set with no element? Exercises: Do the following exercise: 1. Give 3 examples of well- defined sets. 2. Name two subsets of the set of whole number using both the listing method and the rule method. 3. Let B = {1,3,5,7,9}. List all the possible subsets of B. G. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living H. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson. Let the students make generalizations about the definition and examples of sets. Let the students make generalizations about the lesson. I. Evaluating learning Let the students give 10 examples of sets. Formative Written Assessment J. Additional activities for application or remediation V. REMARKS Tuesday – Independence Day Celebration Monday – Orientation VI. REFLECTION A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation
  3. B. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who have caught up with the lesson D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation. E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did these work? F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor can help me solve? G. What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover which I wish to share with other teachers?
