3. Long, Long Ago..
W h a t s o c i a l i s i n g i s a b o u t .
The roots of social media stretch far deeper than you might imagine. Although it seems like a new trend, sites like Facebook are the natural
outcome of many centuries of social media development.
4. Back in
the dayThe earliest methods of communicating across great distances used
written correspondence delivered by hand from one person to another.
In other words, letters. The earliest form of postal service dates back to
550 B.C., and this primitive delivery system would become more
widespread and streamlined in future centuries.
5. Two
Important
Discoveries
During last decade of the 1800s
Both technologies are still in use today, although the
modern versions are much more sophisticated than their
predecessors. Telephone lines and radio signals enabled
people to communicate across great distances
instantaneously, something that mankind had never
experienced before.

10. The Rise
of Mobile
Over the course of the past two years, “Fourth screen”
technology — smartphones, tablets, etc. — has changed
social networking and the way we communicate with one
another entirely.
15. Peaceful
change in
Syria
GOOD
Social media has become even more important, both for
those inside Syria and for those outside trying to make
sense of what is happening inside the country.

16. Raising
awareness
GOOD
Communities, getting together for a common goal. The social impact of
giving and helping towards a common goal. This is a good example for
raising awareness and bringing people together.
17. Mini
Billboards
GOOD
To build hype for their upcoming movie, the marketing team behind Ant-
Man placed tiny billboards in Australian cities.
19. #getcovered
by White
House
GOOD
The White House created the #getcovered hashtag to retweet posts from
people sharing their positive experience to change the narrative to a more
positive one.
21. CYBER
BULLYING
BAD
These are two great examples of cube bullying where a teen
committing suicide and twitter rampage made by President-
Elect Donald Trump made the headlines.
24. Taking Priority
over School
and Sleep
BAD
Research have found big impact on grades, lowering GPAs and negatively
impacting other areas of academic performance.
27. The Billion
Dollar Tweet
Here’s a tweet Travis Kalanick sent in January 2010. The reply from
Ryan Graves happened 3 minutes later. That tweet was worth over a
billion dollars.
29. Questions
that need
to be asked
Some of these questions are never being asked by the Social Media
Provider before starting a project or campaign.
30. 1. Which social media platforms does the client currently use to
capture audience?
2. What is the core objective of using social media campaign?
3. Are the resources you allocate towards social media
worthwhile?
4. What are the benefits customer will gain through the use of
social media?
5. Do you think Social Media is a tool used primarily as a means
of improving the present state of communication or as a tool
used to liaise within a specific organisation?
