CHECK-LIST
A) Land Survey:
a) Check the plot dimensions with reference to demarcation plan
b) Check the soil strata by taking the trial pits to ascertain the nature of sub strata
c) Check the ground slope and collect the details of ground level by proper survey
d) Collect the details about existing structures on plot, trees, any service lines such as
water line, drainage line, sewage line, electrical under ground/ overhead line etc.
e) Check the approach to the plot, any set off for road expansion etc.
B) Lineout Checking:-
a) When Schedule patti (Boundry) is fixed, Check level of Schedule patti with water
level. The center line marked with nailing should be properly denoted with
respective column number. Instead of Schedule patti this work can be done by
erecting/constructing brick massonary pillars of min. size 350mmx350mm finished
with smooth cement finish top.
b) Check all four corners, Peripheral measurements, Side margin and diagonals.
c) Check co-ordinates established on schedule patti with given center line drawing.
d) Make use of steel tape 30m/50m length, Nylon thread or binding wire.
e) For precise work and spread out area with uneven ground levels it is preferable to
make the use of total station for establishment of center line.
f) It is always preferred to check the entire centerline drawing and the line out twice
by different agencies to eliminate the mistakes & errors at very initial stage of
construction.
C) Excavation for Wall foundation and RCC foundation
a) Depending on nature of the ground, observations from trial pit decide the system of
excavation ie- manual, by mechanical equipments, by earthmovers etc.
b) Decide the location for stacking of excavated material (Reusable and material to be
cart away)
c) Collect the data of existing ground level for all column pits, wall foundation before
commencing the excavation work. After completion of excavation upto desired
depth collect information about excavation level.
d) Prepare the chart for strata classification with respective measurement for each
strata. If possible reusable filling material can be left inside the plinth area by
leveling the same.
e) In case of dewatering maintain proper log book for recording the data related to
Pump Horse power details, No. of hours & no. of days for which pump is utilized
and the activities carried out during /after the dewatering work.
f) While back filling of the pits or wall trenches ensure that the filling is done in
layers with proper watering and tamping/ramming.
D) Filling & Rubble Soling
a) Preferably use excavated gravelly murum for earth fill in plinth. Ensure that each
layer of filling should not exceed more than 450mm to 600mm depth. Provide
ample of water to plinth fill so that it will shirnk/ settle down. Provide optimum
compaction by proper ramming/ compaction with any hand/mechanical device.
b) In case of soling; preferably use stone blocks instead of flaky stones and lay them
systematically with even thickness. Fill all crevices and cavities with stone chips.
Cover entire soling surface with small, gravelly murum and sprinkle water to
penetrate small size murum in the gaps between stone blocks. Finally bring the top
surface finished with nominal filing & dressing etc.
to proper level to allow Plinth top PCC to be laid with even thickness.
E) Anti Termite Treatment
This should be carried out from nominated termite treatment agency. This
treatment should be provided at four stages as mentioned below
a) After completion of excavation for foundation pits & wall trenches for all inside
surfaces.
b) After completion of RCC work below ground and completion of plinth wall, But
before commencing backfilling.
c) After completion of murum filling in plinth and before commencing the soling
work/ Sub base PCC at plinth top.
d) After completion of entire building, dig a trench from periphery of the plinth of
size about 300mmx300mm and provide the final dosing of anti termite treatment
F) Plain Cement Concrete
a) Before laying PCC in foundation or at plinth top ensure that the base is properly
leveled and it is well compacted.
b) Use appropriate grade/ design mix for concrete and maintain the thickness as per
design
c) Make proper consolidation & leveling and curing for atleast 8 days
G) Reinforced Cement Concrete
a) Before casting of RCC footings check the center lines transferred in the pit with
reference to ‘Center line Drawing’
b) Once reinforcements are placed at its location for any RCC member check the
same with reference to ‘RCC design’ and confirm the reinforcement, sectional
size, side & bottom cover for the individual member.
c) Before starting the casting operation for specific RCC work such as RCC
footings, Slab, Cantilever structures, Any specially designed RCC item; ensure
that the same has been checked by RCC designer
d) Casting of the concrete should be as per the designed proportion or mix specified
by the consultant. Proper shuttering must be used for RCC work. All necessary
norms related to de-shuttering should be observed.
e) The concrete surface should be properly hacked once de-shuttering completes.
The curing period should be maintain properly
f) Necessary cube tests for concrete as well as reinforcement related tests should be
conducted and results should be recorded
g) Specific points related to Specific RCC member
i) Footings- Check its outer dimensions, confirm the shape ie- rectangular or
trapezoidal or square etc.
ii) Column- Orientation of column, Floor wise reduction of column size, location
of hanger column or floating column.
C-Masonary in Plinth For U C R/ R R Masonary Check stone quality for sharp
Black quarry stone. Whether big stone at bottom layer,&
Small stones above are used Through stones are used or
Not,Stone should be placed on flat even base & supported
By stone chips. morter proportion, mixing trayis used /not
G-Trimix Floor Where trimix floor is specified, check bay dimensions
Fixity of side channels, check skid & pin vibrator is
Used, bays casted in alternate, expansion joints width
Excess water removal surface machine is used, P U
Sheet is used below concrete. After initial setting of
Conrete finishing smooth or broom is made.
Check-List R C C Works
STAIRCASE- Check mid landing level & stair last tread level. Check
Number of risers & treads. Check waist slab thickness
Perpendicular to sloping shuttering.Incase of winders
Riser height should be twice. Check reinforcement,Inserts
For railings,flight overlapping.
O H Watertank- Check shuttering,scaffolding,stagingmade is strong enough
To take load of all activities. Check outer dimensions of
Tank,supports provided for r c c vertical walls, reinforcement
LOFTS ,LINTOLS Check levels with permenant marking of lintol level either
WEATHER SHEDS at stair or at Entrance door whichever is higher. Check wall
Bearings reinforce anchorage & sizes as per drawings.
CHECK-LIST
MASONARY-DOOR, WINDOW FRAMES-INTERNAL.EXTERNAL PLASTER
BRICKWORK-Check bricks are well burnt, are of equal size, well soaked in water,
Before used in construction, staggering of joints, even 20 to 25mm
Joints are tobe maintained, Joints to be raked out on the same day.
For 230mm work both faces of wall should be in one plain & plum
From external side.For 100mm work RCC band to be casted at every
1 m height.No wall to be constructed more than 1 m height in one day
DOOR FRAMES
FIXING Check 6 nos. of thick holdfast are provided, wall contact surface is
Painted in bitumen paint, Other surfaces 1 coat of primer or if to be
Polished afterwards 1 coat of yellow soil to cover natural grains.
Check plumb from both sides, out to out frame size, All holdfast to be
Grouted in concrete rigid one layer is to be constructed at bottom .
Lintol level is to be maintained same all over.
INTERNAL A- Base coat-ceillings-Check cement & fine sand slurry is applied
PLASTER On wet ceiling ,then mortar of (1:4) ratio is applied, then with the
Help of line dori surface is prepared in morter ,in one plane, then
After initial setting of mortar, Sunla is applied & smoothly spread
Over in thin layer.,or if Plaster of Paris ( POP ) finish is required
Pop is to be used instead of Sunla
B-Base coat Wall plaster-Check whether surface is fully wet, Cement
Mortar is in proper mix, Chicken mesh is properly nailed to joint of
Rcc & brickwork, Plastered surface is in plumb, line, & level. Deep
Grooves are made to receive ,second coat, or Sunla, or PoP.
EXTERNAL Check sturdy scaffolding is made, Check surface is fully wet
PLASTER Check for joints chicken mesh, At both ends of wall, top to
Bottom line dori is fixed, Vertical plumb strips of cement mortar
Are made, Check finish as required, spunge, roughcast, textured.
OPENING FINISHING for AL. WINDOW/GRANITE DOOR FRAMES
- While keeping opening in masonary, keep it 75mm more from
3 sides except soffit. Finish opening in correct right angle in
Base coat plaster, deep grooves for bonding. In case of fixing
Aluminium window,confirm in & out full cill is required or not,
In case of Granite 4 side window boxing use best quality PoP
As fixing material. Use supports to maintain frame position for
Atleast 24 hours
Note: Observe curing is made properly. No mortar is dry & white when you see it. Full
curing is essential for first 3 days for allabove items. Ponding for slab is essential. Gunny
bags tying to columns & keeping wet is utmost important. Beam vertical exposed sides to
be covered with wet gunny bags.Where curing water is not amply available curing
compound is to be applied.
FLOORING, SKIRTING, STAIR TREADS-RISERS, TOILET-FLOOR-DADO
Ceramic tiles :-Check start point full tile is proper, Check end tile line for equal cut tile
Check floor for air pockets, Check any slopes if shown on drawing.
Check for broken tiles & colour shade difference.Check colour grout
Is filled properly & of required shade.
Marble Slabs If 4 feet & above big slabs are laid check for individual slab by pouring
Water on each piece..Check while cutting in pieces , at the time of
Fixing grains are matched properally. For white base marble slabs
Top layer of cement shall be of white cement.
Kotah Stone Hand dressed kotah stone edges should not be fine & thin(min. 6mm)
It is fixed in thread level by fixing guide 4 corners,middle level base
Pieces.Check sufficient cement paste & dry cement is used as joint
Filler. Check for required floor slopes
Skirting- For skirting , check whether it is shown flush or projected outside
Of wall surface. Check right angles at corners & on column offsets
Check whether hacking is done before fixing of skirting.
Treads,Risers- Check each flight riser height is equal. Tread projected outside of
Riser is equal for all steps .Check for broken edges, uneven grooves,
Correct both end levels, & for high polish.
Toilet Floor- Check passage & toilet entry drop level max.25mm. Check by pouring
Dado Water on floor,all water clearly goes towards Nahni trap & no gathering
Of water any where on floor. Check clean cutting of tile along C P jail
Check clean hole cutting for wall fittings.
DOOR SHUTTERS
32MM/35MM FLUSH SOLID CORE FLUSH DOORS :-Check for approved make
&manufacturer. Check whether all 4 sides T W Lipping is provided after cutting to
opening size. Check all screws are fixed to hinges. Shutter movement should be smooth
& free. Fittings used are of approved company & material as per specifications.
T W frame with T W panels or Marine Ply panel:-Check for first quality dry seasoned
T Wood. Check for any glue & patical filling in openout knots are filled. Check for
straightness of shutter members & as well as for full size of wood size as specified.
M S Hollow metal frames- Best quality machine made powder coated frames are
available .Genrally used in Ownership projects, quality of frames are not good.
Fibre Door Shutters
Check floor for air pockets, Check any slopes if shown on drawing.

Work check list

  • 1. CHECK-LIST A) Land Survey: a) Check the plot dimensions with reference to demarcation plan b) Check the soil strata by taking the trial pits to ascertain the nature of sub strata c) Check the ground slope and collect the details of ground level by proper survey d) Collect the details about existing structures on plot, trees, any service lines such as water line, drainage line, sewage line, electrical under ground/ overhead line etc. e) Check the approach to the plot, any set off for road expansion etc. B) Lineout Checking:- a) When Schedule patti (Boundry) is fixed, Check level of Schedule patti with water level. The center line marked with nailing should be properly denoted with respective column number. Instead of Schedule patti this work can be done by erecting/constructing brick massonary pillars of min. size 350mmx350mm finished with smooth cement finish top. b) Check all four corners, Peripheral measurements, Side margin and diagonals. c) Check co-ordinates established on schedule patti with given center line drawing. d) Make use of steel tape 30m/50m length, Nylon thread or binding wire. e) For precise work and spread out area with uneven ground levels it is preferable to make the use of total station for establishment of center line. f) It is always preferred to check the entire centerline drawing and the line out twice by different agencies to eliminate the mistakes & errors at very initial stage of construction. C) Excavation for Wall foundation and RCC foundation a) Depending on nature of the ground, observations from trial pit decide the system of excavation ie- manual, by mechanical equipments, by earthmovers etc. b) Decide the location for stacking of excavated material (Reusable and material to be cart away) c) Collect the data of existing ground level for all column pits, wall foundation before commencing the excavation work. After completion of excavation upto desired depth collect information about excavation level. d) Prepare the chart for strata classification with respective measurement for each strata. If possible reusable filling material can be left inside the plinth area by leveling the same. e) In case of dewatering maintain proper log book for recording the data related to Pump Horse power details, No. of hours & no. of days for which pump is utilized and the activities carried out during /after the dewatering work. f) While back filling of the pits or wall trenches ensure that the filling is done in layers with proper watering and tamping/ramming.
  • 2. D) Filling & Rubble Soling a) Preferably use excavated gravelly murum for earth fill in plinth. Ensure that each layer of filling should not exceed more than 450mm to 600mm depth. Provide ample of water to plinth fill so that it will shirnk/ settle down. Provide optimum compaction by proper ramming/ compaction with any hand/mechanical device. b) In case of soling; preferably use stone blocks instead of flaky stones and lay them systematically with even thickness. Fill all crevices and cavities with stone chips. Cover entire soling surface with small, gravelly murum and sprinkle water to penetrate small size murum in the gaps between stone blocks. Finally bring the top surface finished with nominal filing & dressing etc. to proper level to allow Plinth top PCC to be laid with even thickness. E) Anti Termite Treatment This should be carried out from nominated termite treatment agency. This treatment should be provided at four stages as mentioned below a) After completion of excavation for foundation pits & wall trenches for all inside surfaces. b) After completion of RCC work below ground and completion of plinth wall, But before commencing backfilling. c) After completion of murum filling in plinth and before commencing the soling work/ Sub base PCC at plinth top. d) After completion of entire building, dig a trench from periphery of the plinth of size about 300mmx300mm and provide the final dosing of anti termite treatment F) Plain Cement Concrete a) Before laying PCC in foundation or at plinth top ensure that the base is properly leveled and it is well compacted. b) Use appropriate grade/ design mix for concrete and maintain the thickness as per design c) Make proper consolidation & leveling and curing for atleast 8 days G) Reinforced Cement Concrete a) Before casting of RCC footings check the center lines transferred in the pit with reference to ‘Center line Drawing’ b) Once reinforcements are placed at its location for any RCC member check the same with reference to ‘RCC design’ and confirm the reinforcement, sectional size, side & bottom cover for the individual member. c) Before starting the casting operation for specific RCC work such as RCC footings, Slab, Cantilever structures, Any specially designed RCC item; ensure that the same has been checked by RCC designer d) Casting of the concrete should be as per the designed proportion or mix specified by the consultant. Proper shuttering must be used for RCC work. All necessary norms related to de-shuttering should be observed. e) The concrete surface should be properly hacked once de-shuttering completes. The curing period should be maintain properly
  • 3. f) Necessary cube tests for concrete as well as reinforcement related tests should be conducted and results should be recorded g) Specific points related to Specific RCC member i) Footings- Check its outer dimensions, confirm the shape ie- rectangular or trapezoidal or square etc. ii) Column- Orientation of column, Floor wise reduction of column size, location of hanger column or floating column. C-Masonary in Plinth For U C R/ R R Masonary Check stone quality for sharp Black quarry stone. Whether big stone at bottom layer,& Small stones above are used Through stones are used or Not,Stone should be placed on flat even base & supported By stone chips. morter proportion, mixing trayis used /not G-Trimix Floor Where trimix floor is specified, check bay dimensions Fixity of side channels, check skid & pin vibrator is Used, bays casted in alternate, expansion joints width Excess water removal surface machine is used, P U Sheet is used below concrete. After initial setting of Conrete finishing smooth or broom is made. Check-List R C C Works STAIRCASE- Check mid landing level & stair last tread level. Check Number of risers & treads. Check waist slab thickness Perpendicular to sloping shuttering.Incase of winders Riser height should be twice. Check reinforcement,Inserts For railings,flight overlapping. O H Watertank- Check shuttering,scaffolding,stagingmade is strong enough To take load of all activities. Check outer dimensions of Tank,supports provided for r c c vertical walls, reinforcement LOFTS ,LINTOLS Check levels with permenant marking of lintol level either WEATHER SHEDS at stair or at Entrance door whichever is higher. Check wall Bearings reinforce anchorage & sizes as per drawings. CHECK-LIST MASONARY-DOOR, WINDOW FRAMES-INTERNAL.EXTERNAL PLASTER BRICKWORK-Check bricks are well burnt, are of equal size, well soaked in water, Before used in construction, staggering of joints, even 20 to 25mm
  • 4. Joints are tobe maintained, Joints to be raked out on the same day. For 230mm work both faces of wall should be in one plain & plum From external side.For 100mm work RCC band to be casted at every 1 m height.No wall to be constructed more than 1 m height in one day DOOR FRAMES FIXING Check 6 nos. of thick holdfast are provided, wall contact surface is Painted in bitumen paint, Other surfaces 1 coat of primer or if to be Polished afterwards 1 coat of yellow soil to cover natural grains. Check plumb from both sides, out to out frame size, All holdfast to be Grouted in concrete rigid one layer is to be constructed at bottom . Lintol level is to be maintained same all over. INTERNAL A- Base coat-ceillings-Check cement & fine sand slurry is applied PLASTER On wet ceiling ,then mortar of (1:4) ratio is applied, then with the Help of line dori surface is prepared in morter ,in one plane, then After initial setting of mortar, Sunla is applied & smoothly spread Over in thin layer.,or if Plaster of Paris ( POP ) finish is required Pop is to be used instead of Sunla B-Base coat Wall plaster-Check whether surface is fully wet, Cement Mortar is in proper mix, Chicken mesh is properly nailed to joint of Rcc & brickwork, Plastered surface is in plumb, line, & level. Deep Grooves are made to receive ,second coat, or Sunla, or PoP. EXTERNAL Check sturdy scaffolding is made, Check surface is fully wet PLASTER Check for joints chicken mesh, At both ends of wall, top to Bottom line dori is fixed, Vertical plumb strips of cement mortar Are made, Check finish as required, spunge, roughcast, textured. OPENING FINISHING for AL. WINDOW/GRANITE DOOR FRAMES - While keeping opening in masonary, keep it 75mm more from 3 sides except soffit. Finish opening in correct right angle in Base coat plaster, deep grooves for bonding. In case of fixing Aluminium window,confirm in & out full cill is required or not, In case of Granite 4 side window boxing use best quality PoP As fixing material. Use supports to maintain frame position for Atleast 24 hours Note: Observe curing is made properly. No mortar is dry & white when you see it. Full curing is essential for first 3 days for allabove items. Ponding for slab is essential. Gunny bags tying to columns & keeping wet is utmost important. Beam vertical exposed sides to be covered with wet gunny bags.Where curing water is not amply available curing compound is to be applied. FLOORING, SKIRTING, STAIR TREADS-RISERS, TOILET-FLOOR-DADO Ceramic tiles :-Check start point full tile is proper, Check end tile line for equal cut tile
  • 5. Check floor for air pockets, Check any slopes if shown on drawing. Check for broken tiles & colour shade difference.Check colour grout Is filled properly & of required shade. Marble Slabs If 4 feet & above big slabs are laid check for individual slab by pouring Water on each piece..Check while cutting in pieces , at the time of Fixing grains are matched properally. For white base marble slabs Top layer of cement shall be of white cement. Kotah Stone Hand dressed kotah stone edges should not be fine & thin(min. 6mm) It is fixed in thread level by fixing guide 4 corners,middle level base Pieces.Check sufficient cement paste & dry cement is used as joint Filler. Check for required floor slopes Skirting- For skirting , check whether it is shown flush or projected outside Of wall surface. Check right angles at corners & on column offsets Check whether hacking is done before fixing of skirting. Treads,Risers- Check each flight riser height is equal. Tread projected outside of Riser is equal for all steps .Check for broken edges, uneven grooves, Correct both end levels, & for high polish. Toilet Floor- Check passage & toilet entry drop level max.25mm. Check by pouring Dado Water on floor,all water clearly goes towards Nahni trap & no gathering Of water any where on floor. Check clean cutting of tile along C P jail Check clean hole cutting for wall fittings. DOOR SHUTTERS 32MM/35MM FLUSH SOLID CORE FLUSH DOORS :-Check for approved make &manufacturer. Check whether all 4 sides T W Lipping is provided after cutting to opening size. Check all screws are fixed to hinges. Shutter movement should be smooth & free. Fittings used are of approved company & material as per specifications. T W frame with T W panels or Marine Ply panel:-Check for first quality dry seasoned T Wood. Check for any glue & patical filling in openout knots are filled. Check for straightness of shutter members & as well as for full size of wood size as specified. M S Hollow metal frames- Best quality machine made powder coated frames are available .Genrally used in Ownership projects, quality of frames are not good. Fibre Door Shutters
