What’s the difference between Db2 on Cloud and Db2 Hosted?
In sum, with Db2 Hosted, you get root access to install your own apps or do custom configurations. That’s sometimes needed for
lift & shift migrations.

What’s the difference between Db2 on Cloud and Db2 Hosted?
Rule of thumb:
• Use Db2 on Cloud for new development always. It’s fully
managed. Use it for existing systems that do not require deep
custom integrations
• Use Db2 Hosted for “lift and shift” migrations. Reason: You
may need root access to use custom software or
configurations.
