1. CATHY STEED: PR & Media Communication
Daughter of well-known TV news reader / Crisis Media Manager, Adrian Steed,
Cathy has learned from the best when it comes to the image building and branding.
2014: FREELANCE PR & MARKETING:
Establishing & launching brands in South Africa through all Marketing, PR and Social
Media avenues. Giving brands +- 28 Million Rand’s worth of product placement in
magazines per month with no budget.
Having worked literally with “no budget” clients, I work on set budget and still
produce world class campaigns at a fraction of the cost. I have worked with the best
photographers, make-up artists, stylists and models, producing material of an
International standard. All companies require beautiful images. I have been
instrumental in improving brands image through my training and skilled knowledge
when it comes to the look and feel of a brand and the people who work there. I went
freelance to accommodate the needs of a growing client base, maintaining
relationships with all media and feeding content to all local and International
magazines and media. My portfolio focuses on the hospitality and retail sectors and
includes colette by colette hayman, Mount Camdeboo, Luxury Brands, and the
Bokeh Fashion Film Festival.

The astronomical prices Agencies and PR companies have charged clients for PR
services, is what has led me to offer these services to clients at affordable prices,
removing the “middle man” so that companies can benefit from their services
directly. I offer all PR services on a contractual, retainer or rotation basis.
2. 2010 - 2014 - : Marketing Manager: Green Cross Shoe Manufacturers PR
Manager for Indigo Brands:
I was hired to change the perception of the comfort shoe brand through shooting
seasonal campaigns and introducing the shoe brand to the media as a fashion

Million Rand’s worth of product placement in magazines every month with no budget.
It was during this time, under the new management of AVI that I was also put in
charge of overseeing all their cosmetic brands and their men’s and women’s

establishing Silver Service Training and Brand Image Building throughout the
Halcyon Hotel Group’s front of house teams amongst Blues restaurant, Squares and
The Bay Hotel.
3. TESTAMONIALS:
“Establishing Blues Restaurant and all its modern concepts, took Cathy’s calm,
professional, patient and kind manner to keep us all on an even keel. She
understood the Blues diner no matter where they came from and on her watch not
one customer left Blues saying they would not return. This was quite an achievement
considering the size and speed of the operation and the overly high expectations of
our guests. I would work with her again in a heartbeat. Cathy is a class act – and that
coupled with bottomless empathy is hard to find. “
Nicky Fitzgerald: Director of Angama Resorts: nicky.fitzgerald@angama.com
“It was my pleasure and privilege to work with Cathy Steed from 2000 to 2010.
During this period, Cathy proved her sterling professionalism as the fashion director
of GLAMOUR magazine — a senior position that required considerable levels of
organisation, insight, creativity and skill.
In addition to producing regular fashion shoots, Cathy was an excellent ambassador
for both the magazine and the company when it came to all forms of communication
with our advertising clients, suppliers, contributors and international principles, as her
interpersonal skills and ability to deal with people at all levels were outstanding.”
