3. What is cyberbullying
Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place using electronic technology. Electronic technology
includes devices and equipment such as cell phones, computers, and tablets as well as
communication tools including social media sites, text messages, chat, and websites.
Examples of cyberbullying include mean text messages or emails, rumors sent by email or posted
on social networking sites, and embarrassing pictures, videos, websites, or fake profiles.
4. What Causes people to participate in
cyberbullying?
Children do it for revenge of other peers
Children do it simply for entertainment purposes
Some do it to boost their ego
Children do it to get a laugh from their peers
Children do it to help bolster or remind people of their own social standing
5. What are some of the Effects of cyberbullying?
It can give people a bad reputation
Causes children to have low self-esteem
Causes children to become depress if they are constantly picked on by peers
Makes it hard for kids to communicate with others
Sometimes cause people to commit suicide due to embarrassment
6. My Story: Struggling, bullying,
suicide and self-harm
Amanda Todd
(November 27, 1996 –
October 10, 2012)
Committed suicide at the age of 15 at her
home in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia,
Canada. Prior to her death, Todd had posted
a video on YouTube in which she used a
series of flash cards to tell her experience of
being blackmailed into exposing her breasts
via webcam; bullied; and physically
assaulted. The video went viral after her
death, resulting in international media
attention. The video has had more than 17
million views as of April 2014.
