The short story "The White Horse of Alih" is about a man named Alih who remembers his past. He sees his enemy Omar get drunk before going on a killing spree. When Alih sees that Omar is about to kill the woman Alih loves, Fermina, Alih fatally stabs Omar multiple times to save Fermina. The village talks about this tragedy for days, though nobody knows that Alih was responsible. The theme is about making difficult decisions like killing to save someone you love.

 Mig Alvarez Enriquez of Zamboanga City has
written two novels, The Devil Flower (1989) and
House of Images(1983). He collected this short
stories in The White Horse of Alih and other
stories (1985). In this collection, “The White
Horse of Alih” (Philippine Free Press, 1984), was
originally entitled “Dance of Death”
