One of the easiest ways to quickly identify Q&A opportunities is

The following attributes are true of the
questions that are worth your time to
answer:
• They’re not too old. The older the
question, the more existing answers
you’ll be competing against.
• They don’t have too many other answers
for you to compete with.
• They have a relatively high number of
views compared to other questions. This
indicates that the question and its
answers command interest.

QUESTIONS
Questions that command a lot of interest, but
don’t have many answers are generally difficult
to answer. You can expect to put in some serious
work into preparing thoughtful answers to
difficult questions. It may take up to 30 minutes
sometimes to answer a question, but if your
answer is viewed and drives traffic to your site, it
can be well worth your time.
There are three
approaches you can take
in answering questions
to ensure that your
answer gets viewed.

On occasion, the
question is one you’ve
already answered
comprehensively with
content you’ve created in
the form of a blog post,
white paper, etc. If this is
the case, you can provide
a brief answer with a link
to that existing content
of yours.

Often, the content you’re attempting to promote
with an answer on a forum is related -
sometimes pretty loosely - to the question. In
this case, you’ll need to
spend time writing a
direct, detailed answer to
the question, but you can
link to your content in your
answer 1-3 times where it’s
relevant.

Recommend your product directly if it’s an answer to
the question. In order not to have people ignore your
response as spam, it’s essential that your response
is transparent and authentic. Disclose who you are
in relation to the product, and make sure the answer is
valuable by providing an explanation of how the
product addresses each part of the original
question. Be honest about where
your product is strong, as well as
some of its shortcomings
because readers will
value that.

Getting traffic to a new website or a new blog post can be
a challenge. The Q&A strategy is a highly actionable way
to earn traffic by providing information that people are
looking for.
