Surface Water
- is water collecting on the ground or in a river and lake;
it is related to water collecting as groundwater or atmospheric
water.
Surface water is naturally replenished by precipitation and
naturally lost through discharge to evaporation and sub-
surface into the ground. Although there are other sources of
groundwater, such as connate water and magmatic water,
precipitation is the major one and groundwater originated in this
way is called meteoric water.
Water on Earth is known by different terms, depending on where it
is and where it came from.
Meteoric water -water is in circulation
Juvenile water - water that comes from the interior of the earth
Connate water - "fossil" water, often saline
Surface water - water in rivers, lakes, oceans and so on
Groundwater - located beneath the ground surface
Lakes
A body of (usually fresh) water surrounded by land
Rivers
A large natural stream of water

Although water is abundant, more than 99% is unavailable for human
use and a mere 0.3% only is usable.
Thank you so much!
