Working Title:

Survive The Night or The Nightmare
Audience:
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
When looking at the audience profile of people that play survival horror games I can see that the
age range mainly ranges from 18-30, this is because survival horror games are much more mature
games, therefore require a mature audience. This audience is also mainly comprised of males with
women only making up a quarter of the audience. The main social status of people that play horror
survival games are also working class with a very slight portion of them coming from the middle
class.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Review your progress throughout the year- what video game and Photoshop skills and knowledge
have you acquired? How will you use those skills?
What was your advergame and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
For the first unit of this course one part of the unit was to make an advergame it was also part of
the course last year so I have some knowledge when it comes to making advergames. I also play
video games regularly so I have some knowledge of how to appeal to the audience of various
genres. I will use these skills to appeal my game to my audience and be able to make a good
product that the audience will enjoy. The advergame I had previously made was a plat former, this
will help me as from making the plat former I now know how to make all the elements I need for my
advergame and just take out the plat forming elements.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
The concept for my project is to make a horror survival game based on the resident evil franchise
in which the player is locked inside a mansion which is filled with zombies and various other
enemies, the player will have to navigate through the mansion and solve puzzles to find a way a
out alive. The players will also have to juggle bullets and health items and decide what to take with
them and what to leave behind as the players inventory will be very limited to emphasize the
survival aspect. For my research I will look into not only Resident Evil but different games in the
same genre that have some of the same but different elements so I can take certain things from
other games to help improve on my own.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation (Production
Reflections) and your final self-reflection (Evaluation), analysing your work and its outcomes.
How will this process help developing your working practices as you continue with your
study/media career?
I plan on evaluating my work by looking back through all my work and reading through everything
and picking out all the strengths and weaknesses of every part of my work. I will also have peers
look at my work and have them write down or tell me what they did and didn’t like about my work.
