Fostering Friendships - Enhancing Social Bonds in the Classroom
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
1. What have you learned
from your audience
feedback?
By Callum Kopko
2. Throughout the making of the music video, digipak and TV
advert the feedback was crucial to a successful media
production that the target audience would enjoy. I started by
handing out a questionnaire to the people who fell under the
target audience I had chosen, before filling out the
questionnaire I showed all participants my media products I
had produced. I asked a range of simple but specific
questions that was needed to ensure my music production
would fit the right criteria the target audience would want.
3.
4.
5. Question. Answer.
What age group do you fall under? All the people who filled out the questionnaire were between 11 - 19.
What is your gender? Out of the ten people that filled out the questionnaire eight of them were
male and two were female.
What genre do you think the music video is categorised to? All of the candidates said rap.
Do you think the music video fits the genre? Candidates all said yes.
Is the use of camera work throughout the music video is of a good
standard?
Everyone said that camera work was good and the low angle and tracking
shots worked well.
6. What do you think of the digipak design? All people that took the questionnaire enjoyed the digipak design and said it
was really good in the way it was layed out.
Does it work well with music video and type of music? The black and white images worked well with the music video linking
together and the urban feel.
What do you think works well and what doesn’t work well in the
digipak?
The microphone and the brick wall photos worked well with the genre. Also
the text that was on the cover worked well and was different and unique.
There was no complaints on the design.
What are your opinions on the poster design and do you think it
works well?
The poster design was something that the participants of the questionnaire
enjoyed a lot with the way the digipak design was laid out on a wall.
Does the music video, digipak and poster all work together as a
package?
All participants said that whole package worked well and linked in with one
another.
Would you buy the package? Everyone said that they would happily buy the package.
7. Throughout the music video I would go on to show people in
my class and others around the school that came under the
age group that the music video was aimed at to gather more
information on what shots and editing processes went well
within the production and what improvements were to be
made. This mainly occurred when I wanted to know what
worked well in the production relating to whether it looked
better in black and white or just black and white shots for the
studio shots, faded out colours for the shots that related to
sadness and fully coloured shots for the happy parts of the
production. In the end I came to the conclusion from the
feedback to place the video in all black and white.
8. My audience feedback taught me a lot of the way that to
create a media product it needs to be linked in with the genre
and be able to relate to the target audience, If I were to of
shown the products to a older or younger age group and got
their feedback it would of been completely different compared
to the answers I have now. I now know that target audience is
key to a successful media product. The questionnaire was a
great way of obtaining feedback and also asking others as the
editing and filming of the production took place this allowed
me to make quick changes if needed throughout instead of at
the end of the production.
