● Gathering relevant information.

● Community members feel that their opinions and ideas count and their engagement

(2) Understanding the main pain points -- Distinguish isolated experiences from widespread
problems and patterns.
(3) Prioritize improvement areas and act consequently.

(1) Be concise and don’t overload community members with too much information.
● Communicate whatever is key and relevant for their experience.
● Encourage them to ask questions and to add comments.
● Let them know that we’re here to help in case they need to reach out in the future.
(2) Take seriously the questions and concerns that community members raise -- If many
users have the same question about the same issue, this is a sign that something needs to
be done.

29. Key areas:
Empower community members to organically help and support each other:
● Create communication channels for community members to
interact and support each other.
● Shared platform for buddies to exchange materials and ideas for
their sessions.
● Host regular and open workshops for community members.
SPEAK founders (SPEAK’s social franchise model) playing a crucial role in
nurturing and supporting the community in the different SPEAK cities.

31. ● Approximately 10.000 new users joining the SPEAK experience since the lockdown
(March 2020) until today.
● SPEAK is now in 26 cities from 12 different countries (including 3 new cities during the
lockdown - Madrid, Dublin and Faro).

Numbers:
● SPEAK is now offering new language levels to allow participants to progress in the
language they want to learn:
○ New guides for buddies and materials
○ New topics and content
○ Community members playing an important role on this.
● Hybrid model (both offline & online)
Future steps:

○ Any interaction with the community can result in extremely valuable feedback.
○ Make community members feel that their opinions count and their voices are heard.
● Prioritize areas of improvement.
○ Don’t get distracted by isolated experiences and focus on recurring patterns.
● Empower and encourage the community members to contribute with their own ideas.
○ Open the ground for the community to share knowledge.
○ Let the community expand the network organically.
