- 3. Having said that… Dictionary definition of “MOOC”… a course of study made available over the Internet without charge to a very large number of people…
- 4. Definition for my purposes Dictionary Definition + …and is hosted on a major MOOC platform like Coursera, edX, FutureLearn etc. (no bias intended)
- 5. What does the definition/s tell us about learners’ experience with MOOCs?
- 6. Learner experience… not what was intended, but what is – learners’ comments
- 9. Education for All: Disability, Diversity and Inclusion • Designed by UCT • Hosted on FutureLearn • Including children with disabilities in the “normal” classroom • Launched 4 April 2016 • Just over 9000 learners enrolled (as by middle May) • Mostly teachers
- 10. Agency of learners to choose exactly what they want to learn from a range of popular topics
- 12. Freedom to make personal connections between concepts

- 19. MOOCs and online learning are still evolving, but it is clear that platform- based MOOCs have lately taken the right steps towards a carefully thought out learner-centred approach, leading to a much more satisfying learning experience. TAKE AWAY
