• Globally tropical peatlands have significant
contributions to stabilize world’s climate
• Yet, they are facing tremendous pressure to
maintain the services they can provide for human
well-being
• Indonesian ambition to restore > 2 Mha degraded
peatlands pose a huge challenge to evaluate the
results towards the end of its 5-year initial phase
• A set of Criteria and Indicator (C&I) following
fundamental Principles need to be developed and
validated
