The Centre for Human Rights and Policy Studies (CHRIPS) is a leading international African research centre based in Kenya that conducts high quality policy relevant research on human rights, security, terrorism and counter-terrorism, violence, crime and policing.
Registered in 2009 in Kenya, as a non-governmental organization, CHRIPS actively engages academics, policy makers and other key stakeholders in the generation and dissemination of new knowledge that facilitates the development of innovative and effective policy solutions to the pertinent security challenges in Africa.
Since its inception, CHRIPS has forged research partnerships with premier research institutions in Kenya and internationally that have yielded a number of high quality research outputs. It is also committed to the development of globally competitive African researchers through training and mentorship in the fields of security and human rights through research collaborations and fellowships.

The Centre for Human Rights and Policy Studies
(CHRIPS) is a leading international African research
centre based in Kenya that conducts high quality policy
relevant research on human rights, security, terrorism
and counter-terrorism, violence, crime and policing.
2. Board Members
Wambui Kimathi
Wambui Kimathi is currently a Senior Advisor
to the Cabinet Secretary at the Ministry of
Devolution and Planning. Previously, she was
the County Secretary for Nyeri County. She has
spent most of her life as a human rights
advocate.
She previously served as a Commissioner at
the Kenya National Commission on Human
Rights, the Deputy Executive Director of the
Kenya Human Rights Commission, and was
instrumental in the establishment of the
Institute for Business and Human Rights in
Kenya.
Francis Ang’ila
Francis Ang'ila is currently the Team
Leader for the Deepening Democracy
Programme at Development Alternatives
Incorporated (DAI) - Kenya. Previously, he
served as SUNY's Chief of Party for the
Kenya Parliamentary Strengthening
Programme.
He has many years' experience managing
large, complex civil society programmes in
Kenya. He has also served as a
Commissioner on the Independent
Review Commission on the General
Elections held in Kenya on 27th December
2007 (IREC)

Celestine Nyamu
Dr. Celestine Nyamu is a Senior Lecturer at
the School of Law at the University of Nairobi.
She has published widely on issues of the
Law, land rights and development in Africa.
She holds a PhD in Law from the Harvard Law
School.
Winnie Mitullah
Prof. Winnie Mitullah, a highly respected
Kenyan scholar, is currently a Professor
and the Director of the Institute for
Development Studies (IDS) at the
University of Nairobi.
She is a renowned expert on issues of
political development, urban planning,
gender and civil society in Kenya and
Africa. She holds a PhD from the
University of York, United Kingdom.
