3. In 2011 according to the CDC, there were a
total of 329,797 babies delivered from the
age group 15-19 years old
Only 40% of teen mothers finish high
school, and about 16% end up going on to get
a higher education
Only 51% of the teen moms keep their baby
Adoption? Abortion? Keep it?
4. Helps teens understand the importance of
safe sex
Shows teens the effects pregnancy can have
Lets teens know that unprotected sex can
end with STD’s and even pregnancies
Studies have shown that when teens are
given comprehensive sex education in
school, the rates for teens getting pregnant
or getting STD's goes down.
5. TV shows and movies make it seem like its
okay (teen mom, 16 and
pregnant, Juno, etc.)
Some teens think its cool to be like famous
people (Snooki, Jamie Spears, teens from 16
& pregnant, etc.)
Most shows on TV or movies all portray
people having sex (young and old), but
they never really talk about being
safe or the effects after having sex

7. Kaiser Family Foundation states that 33% of
pregnant teens stated that they felt that
they were not ready for a sexual
relationship, but proceeded anyway because
they feared ridicule or rejection
Some girls think they need to have sex to
boost their “popularity” level
They could be peer pressured into it (relation
ships, parties, alcohol, etc.)
8. Educating young people about teen pregnancy
will result in lower birth rates and it will also
help them understand why practicing safe sex is
very important.
With our survey, we hope it shows that even
students agree with the fact that the topic of
safe sex and teen pregnancy needs to be
addressed more.
The problem of teen pregnancy is growing
rapidly because adolescents are out in the world
not being educated enough, not practicing safe
sex, and not knowing everything that comes
along with being pregnant.
