Salicylic acid, which is used for rooting, derives its name from the Latin word “salix” meaning
“willow tree”. Salicylic acid plays part in plants’ photosynthesis, transpiration and resistance to
pathogens which are bacteria, viruses, or other microorganisms that can cause diseases.
