Biographical Sketch –
Robert P. Podgorski
Principal, R.P.P. Enterprises
Hoffman Estates, IL.
Bob is the president of RPP Enterprises, Hoffman Estates, Illinois, a careering and Human Resources
consulting practice established in 1979. He is also the Director of the Schaumburg Township Employment
Support Center and the Elk Grove Township Employment Support Center, municipal government services
established by R.P.P Enterprises and the Townships to assist area residents with their job search activities.
Bob previously held positions as Vice President Human Resources for General Data, Director, Employment
and Staffing for Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Division and Director, Human Resources for Charles
Industries. In addition, he also worked in Human Resource for a major division of AT&T as well as in
Education as an operations manager, Harper College.
During Bob’s 38-year Human Resources career, he was recognized (by employers) as an internal consultant
in recruitment strategies, staffing, executive search, career / organizational development, and manpower
planning. As a result, he held numerous special assignments in major business change initiatives such as
the merger of Northrop and Grumman Corporations; led strategic programs such as the forming of the
employment function for the massive B2 – ‘Flying Wing’ Program, while assigned to Northrop Grumman,
in California. This Division reached an employment level of over 17,000 employees, from its initial modest
beginnings.
Bob’s consulting experience includes operating his own consulting practice in career consulting and
Human Resources, and prior as Vice President of Human Resource Consulting for a mid-west based
management consultant firm. In this capacity, he managed teams dedicated to client services in hiring
strategies, organizational resizing, on-boarding and workforce development issues, policy, management
practices, employee relations and specialized in competency based hiring criteria for clients such as
Textron Corporation. Other clients included the Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation, CNA
Insurance, Duda Manufacturing, Inc., and other clients in transportation, not-for-profit, legal services and
distribution.
During his career, Bob developed and implemented mass hiring programs, key employee identification
projects, college relations initiatives (including establishing technical research projects with major
University Schools of Engineering, nationally). During his HR career, Bob’s expertise set the stage for
Northrop Corporate to designate his function as a center of excellence in employment leadership,
recruitment and college relations. Bob has also been affiliated with the Management teams of AT&T-
Lucent Technologies, and North American Phillips Corporation, where he held H.R. Generalist and
program management positions in special emphasis H.R. areas.
Bob’s undergraduate work in management was done at Roosevelt University in Chicago. He has held the
best practices chairman, quarterly newsletter editor and the HR Job Bank Chair for the Chicago-land’s
Human Resources Association, (a Superior Merit Award SHRM Chapter, now merged with the Oakbrook
HR Association). He was the past president of the Electronics Personnel Association, Corporate Relocation
Council and the North Chicago Business and Industrial Association - Human Resources Council. Bob Co-
Chaired employment and training opportunities for the disabled as a director with the Chicago-land Project
with Industry initiative. In this role and over a 15 year affiliation, he earned the prestigious ‘Leadership
Award’ - a recognition from the nationally recognized Electronics Industry Association. He was an adviser
to the William Rainy Harper College Supervisory and Management Program - 4 years. He was a past
advisor to the curriculum advisory committee at Truman College, and Parkland College, a career advisor to
several University placement offices, is a former member of the Society of Human Resources Management,
and a previous member of the national Employment Management Association - Chicago Affiliate (as a
founding member). In this later capacity, he has chaired, organized, coordinated and directed regional HR
conferences and professional development programs.
During Bob’s career, he has presented at major H.R. conferences, both local and national. He has also
written professional articles on careering, recruitment and employment issues, HR strategies, career
development, management by objectives, resume dynamics, networking effectiveness, and career
strategies. He regularly writes a Careering focused blog on LinkedIn. He was the editor of the Employment
Personnel Association’s monthly Newsletter for nine years. The Employment Management Association
presented Bob with their nationally coveted “Pericles” Award for achievement in Human Resources, for his
numerous creative and leadership contributions to the HR profession. He shared the stage with other
awardees such as the Wall Street Journal (for HR focused content) and well known Northwestern
University Placement Director, Dr Frank J. Endicott (for research and influencing innovative HR
practices).
Bob is a nationally recognized speaker in the field of human resources, employment, career planning,
communications and proactive recruitment strategies. Bob previously presented monthly career enhancing
programs at the Illinois Employment Security Offices in Arlington Heights, IL, regularly presents programs
at libraries, networking meetings regionally and consults with Networking groups in organization/
administrative management and program coordination. He has presented programs as keynote speaker at
numerous associations, societies and corporate functions on career related subjects as well as the keynote
motivation presenter for In-Service employee development initiatives. He has established in-house
outplacement functions and consulted in outplacement strategies and outsourcing of these services.
In 2001, Bob began writing for the Outdoor Notebook, Midwest Outdoors and Muskie Magazine on fishing
related subjects and is an advisory volunteer to the board of directors of the Illinois Muskie Alliance, an
amalgam of Muskie club representatives working with the State of Illinois Department of Natural
Resources to further (through funding and initiatives,) the sport of Muskie fishing in Illinois. He is a
Muskie Tournament Angler as well. Bob was formerly a commission member with the Hoffman Estates
Sustainability Commission where he has initiated programs on environmental awareness, stewardship, and
continuing education dealing with land and wilderness conservancy, eco-systems, bio-diversity and the
environment. He has initiated youth programs, an environmental speaker series, as well as creating an
elementary school environmental awareness program and has organized and coordinated annual
Environmental Fair events, some in partnership with other suburban communities. Bob is a member of the
Hoffman estates Chamber of Commerce and a former board member. He is a member of the Chamber’s
annual scholarship committee and the community fishing derby committee.
In 2003, Bob, with a team of five fellow Parishioners, formed the Saint Hubert’s Job and Networking
Ministry. The Ministry is Non-denominational, meets twice monthly serving the regions unemployed,
under employed and career changer - through career enhancing programming, professional and facilitated
Networking opportunities and Christian support. The Ministry hosts seminars and resume preparation
meetings monthly, rotating locations with thirty partnering parishes of various denominations in Crystal
Lake, Lake Zurich, Palatine, Inverness, Arlington Heights, Long Grove, Mount Prospect, Itasca, Wayne,
Bloomingdale, Schaumburg and Streamwood, IL. Career presentation content often comes from the depth
and breath of experience Bob has accumulated throughout his career. As a result of his leadership in the
above, he has won the Paul Harris Award from Rotary, International, for outstanding services to the
community and the Lumina-Chriti Award bestowed by the Archdiocese of Chicago for founding a non-
denominational, free service outreach initiative, with affiliations spanning and bringing together 6
autonomous religious denominations.
