QUALIFICATIONS
I have personal and hands-on experience on a wide variety of devices as well as
configuration, maintenance, design and implementation to programing, Project Management
and protocol analysis.
My responsibilities and roles have included: District Service Manager, Field Engineer, Senior
Field Engineer, Implementation Specialist with Project Management duties, Senior
Consultant, and Senior Engineer
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Level (3)
Lone Tree, Co
IPDE/Project Management
IP/MOSS Engineer
IP MOSS Engineering – Engineer
I have worked on design elements for the Level (3) nation-wide IP backbone. I have also
been responsible for capacity planning, purchasing and implementation of IP backbone
structure. I also examine any issues with CPE/NID issues as they relate to design planning
and any or all changes needed in an operational setting. My duties have included examination
of capacity for both new customer implementations as well as modifications. I examined the
current capacity of both backbone and local loop (ring) levels to accommodate requests and
recommend augmentations where needed to support data traffic; or suggest that other
facilities be utilized if those facilities might be more appropriate for the request.
I have additionally been responsible for the design and project management of the nation-
wide out of band network solution for disaster recovery when network elements are not
available. I was also project lead for the incorporation of Cisco’s Common Services Platform
Collector. This collector is responsible for identifying potential bugs or deficiencies within the
Cisco network and assisting in the development of actions that can be taken to reduce
exposure to any bugs, or issues that may have a potential harmful effect on the network.
I was engaged in changing the hardware and device configurations in Columbia, SC for the
newer phase of equipment deployment in preparation for it’s eventual final design (eventual
use of the Cisco ASR9K in data delivery).
I also provided project management services in the lab to check operational readiness of new
code that is being released by the vendor. I additionally work with the vendor in determining if
a test result is expected or perhaps the code needs further investigation. I check code against
known issues and record any new and additional issues that might arise during the testing
phase.
I managed a project to provide connection for all “Hub” locations and “NNI’ connection sites
for disaster recovery of device communications for diagnostic purposes.
I as responsible for the “nation-wide” implementation and device introduction of a new NID
(the Overture 1400) platform. This includes project management duties of configuration, parts
assessment, national stocking levels and purchasing. “Roll-out” of all possible configurations
and engineering acceptance of a supportable device by the corporation. These
implementations range from pure data (web services, data storage needs), to voice and more
“real-time” applications (such as video).
Currently, I am a SPOC for a project to combine management IP address space from both
Level 3 and the former tw telecommunications into a single entity. This project consists of
numerous facets to consider when managing and implementing a world-wide solution.
Examination of millions of IP addresses is needed to ensure that any duplication of addresses
is found, detailed, and the proper solution is put into place.

Consultant
Consultant for large national service provider (TW Telecom) as Tier III engineering. I was
project lead for national out of band management network, Cisco network manager, circuit
termination for new service devices and new service delivery offerings. Consult with various
company divisions and groups.
T-Mobile

Senior Network Engineer
Senior Data Systems Engineer - Tier II WAN and IP and Project Management
I was the escalation point for technical issues for nationwide IP/ATM/OTN networks. These
networks interface with internal the service supporting management IP network, the
infrastructure for store operations (POS), and all customer data traffic. Customer data and
voice types supported have been 2G, 3G, 4G (HSPA+), and LTE. Equipment for the customer
data and voice consisted of Cisco WAN devices (BPX, MGX, SES) for 2G, while 3G consisted
of Alcatel ESE and RSPs. 4G devices consist of Cisco router devices (ASR9K, 7000 series,
4900 series). LTE devices also consist of Cisco ASR9K, 7000 series, 4900 series, Alcatel
Lucent 7750 and 7705 (along with the utilization of the Alcatel Lucent SAM).
I lead implementation activities in a project management role for router/switch installs. These
implementations would also include device upgrades (both major release and incremental
service upgrades).
I observed and made recommendations for network/service and connection parameter
corrections and enhancements. I responded to unforeseen and potential events with
corrective action and drove to resolution the cause of the event by addressing and directing
additional resources within the company. If necessary, I provided documentation and training
to mitigate the chance of the issue arising again if at all possible. If not possible, I produced
documentation to be used in the event of the occurrence of the same issue so that it could be
resolved in the shortest amount of time possible (MTTR). As well as making changes where
applicable to enhance MTTR, I focused my efforts on actions that would better increase
MTBF in all applicable networks (statistical trending of defective production runs for instance).
I sustained the current working environment by correcting flaws in the alarm and event
monitoring systems, as well as developing a strategy to provide for “best practices” for
network hardening (code and hardware level supportability) as well as security
implementation and long-term operational support for on-going network security needs.
I performed device upgrades for network sustainment and operational standardization.
Along with these duties, I was tasked with the proper utilization of bandwidth within both the
production and enterprise networks. To accomplish this I acted as the project manager. I
monitored the network for any anomaly that might show one or more network interconnects
was not operating at an optimal level. These observations would not only show that some
interconnects were at capacity, but some interconnects were not being utilized at all. In order
to balance these issues, different techniques were used from automatic balancing (shutting a
link and then re-opening the link, to moving specific connections to provide additional space
for an over utilized link). Procuring additional resources within the corporation to assist in
resolving any issues found.
In addition to my engineering duties, I was also a trainer for various departments within T-
Mobile. This training for the WAN group at T-Mobile resulted in a fifty percent reduction in
escalation calls to Tier II and thereby reducing MTTR by twenty-five percent.

Project Management
Technical Solutions Manager- Bell South
I was responsible for technical review and design for customer solutions within the Bell South
e- Business hosting centers. I was the single source of contact and project management for
all departments interfacing with the Bell South transport organization.
I maintained all related documentation for customer support and authored documentation for
installation solutions. I configured all related Cisco switches and routers that are part of the
customer solution. I troubleshot any issues that might arise from any installation.
I met with customers to resolve issues that arose from installations and also provided ongoing
technical support of current customer solutions by providing a centralized point of contact for
ongoing management issues.
As the leading member of the data infrastructure for the web hosting business for Bell South, I
was also responsible in determining the needed bandwidth required by the applications that
the customer planned to host from the Bell South facilities. Although the pricing model was set
up from a megabit/month scheme, I was the advisor to the customer for the anticipated and
appropriate use of bandwidth so the final network solution could be obtained and provided to
the customer.
Engineering- Bell South
I reviewed business needs and developed technical solutions. I was a member of the team
that reviewed solutions for the Bell South managed storage solution.
Network testing- Bell South
I performed network testing on the Bell South messaging system that uses Cisco routers and
switches and provided data on findings.
Network support- British Telecommunications
I supported network operations for the frame relay /ATM network for British
Telecommunications and Resolved customer issues.
Network design and acceptance- Caprock Communications
I reviewed network structure and configurations. I made configuration changes to stabilize
network connectivity and authored documentation for ongoing operations support.
I reviewed network configurations. I authored documentation for lab testing of new network
configurations. I provided support of customer issues and followed these issues to resolution.

Engineer Tier III Global Operations
Project Management
Technical network Support for 2nd
and 3rd
level global escalations and Project
Management
I resolved second level technical problems on three global Frame Relay and ATM networks.
I reduced frame forward core trunk outages by 85% by designing and implementing a new
global clocking scheme and IMATM redundancy settings.
I reduced structured network trunk outages 45% by assisting in the development and
implementation of a new structured world-wide network-clocking scheme.
I performed network upgrades and tracked their efficacy. I also acted as the vendor liaison to
track open issues and follow those issues to applicable configuration changes, topology
changes, and software upgrade improvement.
I reviewed engineering configurations and network design for “real-world” operational
effectiveness. This “effectiveness” reached global proportions given that many parts of the
world are extremely limited in having available bandwidth to ensure proper communications.
While most parts of North America and Western Europe often have the bandwidth available
(with plenty to spare), to ensure that the communications path is of sufficient size to allow for
sizeable and nearly uninterrupted data flow, other parts of the global infrastructure were no as
robust. This often lead to the need for closely monitoring the available bandwidth, accounting
for the size and making configuration choices if there is a bandwidth availability issue; there is
also a timing issue that follows closely behind.
The need to move connections in parts of the world where bandwidth was an issue so that
additional would be bandwidth available, connections that were very data intensive would
need to be moved to assist other connections that were not as data intensive to remain as
stable as possible.
Racal Datacom

Various Disciplines
Senior Field Engineer
I was responsible for installation and maintenance of data communications equipment
I installed and serviced various WAN products including T1 multiplexers, asynchronous
statistical multiplexers, T1 CSU/DSUs, data encryption equipment, and various analog
modems.
I ensured that correct inventory levels for parts replacement stock were maintained.
I installed serviced and configured LAN equipment, which included Cisco and Bay Networks'
routers and hubs.
I installed and serviced WAN equipment, which included Omnimux 9000 and 8000, Telco
Systems Channel Banks, and various drop and insert T1 multiplexers.
I served as lead technician for various clients including Snapper, Total Systems, and Apex
Supply Company.
District Service Manager
I managed the daily operations of a field staff of 15 field engineers in Virginia, Maryland and
Washington D.C. and 1 office assistant
I assumed responsibility for the management and allocation of $20 million in parts.
I also ensured that personnel were trained in both new technology and company operations in
a proper and timely manner.
Project Management
I reviewed network solutions, coordinated installation activities and provided Project
management solutions as a single point of contact for all facets of network installation.
Coordinated field personnel and equipment supply and delivery. Examined proposed design
for proper equipment as well as examined the proposed solution for proper bandwidth for
proper operation given the applications that the proposed solution was to support. Certain
protocols of the day were more tolerant of bandwidth constraints (SDLC as opposed to Bi-
sync for example). The suggested bandwidth need to match the required bandwidth, while
taking into account the need to keep the overall solution within budgetary constraints.
Implemented and installed large computer networks that included Tyson Foods, Regions
Bank, Marriott and Apex Plumbing.
Assisted in the development of network requirements and infrastructure design for new Racal
customers, and those customers whose network was growing.

I authored documentation for lab testing of new network configurations. I provided support of customer issues and followed these issues to resolution. Network support- Bank of America I coordinated all aspects of the frame Relay and ATM network upgrade. I performed configuration "scrapes" as well as install of new configuration on switches that had been upgraded consisting of hardware upgrade when needed and installation support. Concert Atlanta, GA Engineer Tier III Global Operations Project Management Technical network Support for 2nd and 3rd level global escalations and Project Management I resolved second level technical problems on three global Frame Relay and ATM networks. I reduced frame forward core trunk outages by 85% by designing and implementing a new global clocking scheme and IMATM redundancy settings. I reduced structured network trunk outages 45% by assisting in the development and implementation of a new structured world-wide network-clocking scheme. I performed network upgrades and tracked their efficacy. I also acted as the vendor liaison to track open issues and follow those issues to applicable configuration changes, topology changes, and software upgrade improvement. I reviewed engineering configurations and network design for “real-world” operational effectiveness. This “effectiveness” reached global proportions given that many parts of the world are extremely limited in having available bandwidth to ensure proper communications. While most parts of North America and Western Europe often have the bandwidth available (with plenty to spare), to ensure that the communications path is of sufficient size to allow for sizeable and nearly uninterrupted data flow, other parts of the global infrastructure were no as robust. This often lead to the need for closely monitoring the available bandwidth, accounting for the size and making configuration choices if there is a bandwidth availability issue; there is also a timing issue that follows closely behind. The need to move connections in parts of the world where bandwidth was an issue so that additional would be bandwidth available, connections that were very data intensive would need to be moved to assist other connections that were not as data intensive to remain as stable as possible.
  • 6. Racal Datacom Atlanta, GA Various Disciplines Senior Field Engineer I was responsible for installation and maintenance of data communications equipment I installed and serviced various WAN products including T1 multiplexers, asynchronous statistical multiplexers, T1 CSU/DSUs, data encryption equipment, and various analog modems. I ensured that correct inventory levels for parts replacement stock were maintained. I installed serviced and configured LAN equipment, which included Cisco and Bay Networks' routers and hubs. I installed and serviced WAN equipment, which included Omnimux 9000 and 8000, Telco Systems Channel Banks, and various drop and insert T1 multiplexers. I served as lead technician for various clients including Snapper, Total Systems, and Apex Supply Company. District Service Manager I managed the daily operations of a field staff of 15 field engineers in Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. and 1 office assistant I assumed responsibility for the management and allocation of $20 million in parts. I also ensured that personnel were trained in both new technology and company operations in a proper and timely manner. Project Management I reviewed network solutions, coordinated installation activities and provided Project management solutions as a single point of contact for all facets of network installation. Coordinated field personnel and equipment supply and delivery. Examined proposed design for proper equipment as well as examined the proposed solution for proper bandwidth for proper operation given the applications that the proposed solution was to support. Certain protocols of the day were more tolerant of bandwidth constraints (SDLC as opposed to Bi- sync for example). The suggested bandwidth need to match the required bandwidth, while taking into account the need to keep the overall solution within budgetary constraints. Implemented and installed large computer networks that included Tyson Foods, Regions Bank, Marriott and Apex Plumbing. Assisted in the development of network requirements and infrastructure design for new Racal customers, and those customers whose network was growing.
