2. Introduction
• With a career spanning over 40 years, William “Bill” Ryerson has
been dealing with issues related to global development such as
migration (emigration and immigration), gender equity, population,
family planning, and sustainability. Bill Ryerson’s interests are in
harmony with his life-long endeavors in the area of sustainable
population through his founding and leadership of Population
Media Center (PMC).
Burlington, Vermont-based PMC is known for its TV and radio
shows that has helped half a billion people around the world lead
healthier lives. The nonprofit is also into a number of other
initiatives including Global Population Speak Out, a worldwide
grassroots initiative introduced by Dr. John Feeney in 2008.

3. Population Media Center
• This campaign strives to involve and enlighten people
on the repercussions of overpopulation. It has enlisted
numerous outstanding opinion leaders, scientists, and
academicians, as well as thousands of ordinary citizens
and environmentalists to help promote international
awareness to the enormous problems the growing
global population is causing. These issues include
hunger, environmental concerns, and ever-shrinking
resources due to the high population.
The Speak Out campaign is a joint initiative with
Population Institute with the objective of driving
change towards a sustainable population growth/level.
