An innovative way of using Google Plus as a free autoresponder service. The social media platform can be used as an email marketing tool - although it is rather manual, it remains one of the best free email marketing resources for startups (and even internet marketing moguls!).

2. PUSH NOTIFICATIONS
 Push notifications are a way to inform your circles when you post
new content on Google Plus.
 How? Tick the “Also send email notification to [circles]”
button.
 When you send a push notifications, people receive a message
telling them that you shared a post directly with them: “[your
name] shared a post directly with you”.

3. CREATING A NEW CIRCLE
 Go to your Google Plus profile and click on People.
 Go to your circles and click on Add new circle; give your circle a
name.

4. SPREADING THE WORD
 People cannot join your circles automatically. You have to add
them manually.
 Create a new post update about your new Notifications circle and
share it publicly on Google Plus. Include the following information:
 Announce your new circle (I’m building a notifications circle… etc)
 Share the type of blog posts you write (writing tips, online marketing tips, etc.)
 Mention the frequency of your posts (1/week, 1/month, etc.)
 Explain what a notification circle is
 Explain how people can subscribe to/unsubscribe from your notifications circle

5. SUBSCRIBE / UNSUBSCRIBE
 How people can subscribe:
 By sending you a private message
 By commenting on your Post
 By liking your post
Bonus Tip: Share your announcement post once a week / once a month to grow
your list of subscribers.
 How people can unsubscribe:
 By sending you a private message
 By commenting on one of your posts

6. NOTIFICATIONS DESIGN
 Reduce friction by including a footer in each of your posts, telling
people how to subscribe/unsubscribe. Add any other relevant
information.
 E.g.:

I am treating this like an email list, so you will not get any spammy
content, irrelevant news, or links to articles which do not belong to me.
Want out?
Simply let me know that you want out, and it’s done. You can do this by
replying to this post or by sending me a private message. You have my
guarantee that I will remove you from this circle as soon as possible. No
hard feelings, no strings attached.

 Advantages of using Google Plus as a free autoresponder service:
 It’s free
 It is a great addition to your email newsletter, but it can be used even if you don’t
use an autoresponder service
 You can grow your list of followers
 You can increase the interaction on your posts
 You can drive more traffic to your website
 Disadvantages:
 A lot of manual work is involved, which may cause friction
 You can only send 100 email notifications at a time
 Regular circle maintenance is required
 You can only include in your circle people who are using Google Plus
