A bandage is a piece of material used to cover wounds, control bleeding, support medical devices, or provide body support. There are several types of bandages including gauze, adhesive, compression, and triangular bandages. Basic bandaging forms include circular, spiral, figure-of-eight, recurrent, and reverse spiral techniques. When applying a roller bandage, the appropriate width is selected for the body part, an anchor wrap is applied, the bandage is wrapped around the injury while checking circulation, and the injured extremity is elevated.
