A lot of people talk and write about content marketing. Mostly they tell you
how important it is, but rarely do they tell you what is really important to
include in your website content.
Writing articles as website content is anything but new. There are secrets
to creating great articles as website content for marketing your business
or organization.
This article will share ten of these “content marketing secrets” that can
make or break your article content.
1. Quality Content Answers a Question or
Solves a Problem

This may seem basic, but it is vital to each and every
piece of content you write for your website. If it
doesn’t accomplish either of these, it wasn’t worth
writing.
Each and every article you write should establish
your enterprise as a market leader at the forefront of
its niche. If you can’t do that, then you simply will
not be viewed that way.
If that seems harsh, it is meant to. Filler content has
no place on your website. Knowing the problems
your readers face is as important as the ability to
solve them. This mindset is one you must cultivate
each and every time you sit down to write website
articles for content marketing.
It is a good idea to look back at your existing articles and see if they meet this standard. Do
not be afraid to go back and rewrite them so that they toe the quality content line and
answer questions, solve problems, or both.
2. SEO Friendly Titles and Subtitles
Arguably the single most important
aspect of your website article is the
title.​ The title will determine
whether a potential reader bothers to
click through and take even a cursory
look at your content.
How do you write titles that will get
clicks and therefore readers? Write
them on Google!
Take your article idea and start writing a keyword rich description of what question you
are answering, or problem you are solving. Now look at the results Google brings up.
Are there ads showing? Are the organic results returned from known market leaders?
These are good indications that you’ve got a good title on your hands.
Never copy a title from another website verbatim. There is no need. Google’s algorithm is
excellent at finding appropriate content that matches subject matter.
The same rule applies to subtitles. Keyword rich, and Google should return results with

ads, and organic results from niche market leaders.
3. Quality Content Gets To The Point –
Effective Introductions
When Writing an effective
introduction is right up there in
importance with titles and subtitles.
If your intro doesn’t catch reader’s
attention in the first few seconds,
they will be gone. Make them easy to
read by tagging them Heading 3.
(Subtitles are Heading 2)
The content itself should be designed to show that you feel their pain. Answering their
question starts with showing that you understand that question. Solving their problem
starts with showing that you are intimately familiar with that problem.
Write as one that has been there and done that. An effective introduction is an exercise in
empathy. If you don’t get that across, it will fail.
4. Quality Content Keeps Its Promise
The promise of answers and solutions is key to quality content. Your title and introduction
lead your readers either to those answers and solutions, or they lead them to
disappointment. Your content simply must deliver on that promise.
A common mistake is the belief that giving away too much information is unwise and may
actually eliminate the reader’s need for your products or services.
Transparency and full disclosure do exactly the opposite. They motivate readers to utilize
your offerings because they see and understand what you are about.
5. Quality Content is Concise and Organized
As soon as your reader finds that your article

is no longer addressing their questions and
problems, they will stop reading and move
on to content that does.
Nothing loses website visitors faster than
content that goes off point. This doesn’t
mean you are creating directions to assemble
an IKEA bookcase though. Write your article
with personality but also respecting your
reader’s time.
Utilizing your subtitles to organize the body
of your article is a great way to accomplish
this. Break your solution or answer down
into segments that can be thought of as
mini-articles each only a few short
paragraphs long.
Today’s most popular authors create short paragraphs, chapters, and leave lots of white
space on the page. Writing for website readers makes this even more important. Use
images in most of your subheadings and label them with keyword rich titles, alternate
titles, and descriptions. They add a pleasing aspect that will keep your readers moving
through your content.
6. Conclude Your Content With a
Reminder of Assistance Rendered
Effective content is quality content, and it is very effective to conclude by reminding your
reader that your content just solved a problem for them.
Your conclusion should then lead to a specific call to action or CTA. Notice that each and
every article on this website has an offer of a no cost consultation and either a submission
form, or a click through that leads to one.
Why? Because quality content shows readers that since you can solve one problem, or
answer one question in your niche you are a good resource for others. Be generous in your
content, as well as with offering no cost consultation assistance to readers. That’s what
market leaders do…

Transparency and full disclosure do exactly the opposite. They motivate readers to utilize your offerings because they see and understand what you are about. 5.
