Sharing some of the online marketing principles and perspectives picked up over the years from those we have learned from.

2. There is no niche or market position not susceptible to a Brute
Force Content Marketing Campaign.
Finessing such a campaign can hasten the results, but those
thinking they are safe from all comers are sadly mistaken.
Doubt that? Connect with a marketing agency or consultant.
If you wish to unseat a behemoth in your industry, we can help.
If you want to remain the behemoth, we can assist there too.
3. Real Estate Agents need to pay special attention to Seth
Godin’s concept of “The Smallest Viable Market”
When marketing professionals ask about your specialty,
and you don’t have an answer. Know that you should.
Real Estate is among the most competitive niches today.
Defining your market is the first step in winning within
that better defined niche.
Can you?
4. Consider the Real Estate market again.
Which is more valuable to an agent:
Ranking at the top of Google for “Tampa Real Estate”?
Or ranking for a phrase like “Tampa Waterfront Condos”?
As long as your content can back it up, you will always be more
successful with a specialized message.
Market to your real audience. Not a huge generalized audience that may or may not be your’s.
5. All too often conversations about website traffic come
down to talk about quantities. This is a real shame.
Good content marketing is all about talking to what
Seth Godin calls the “Smallest Viable Audience”. Gary
Halbert called it a “Starving Crowd”.
You want your story to be not just seen, but also to be heard. Think more about whose eyes end up
seeing your content than how many of them there are.
Find your starving audience. Find your smallest viable audience.
6. Willie Crawford invented a great deal of what we know today
as internet marketing in order to sell his Soulfood Cookbook.
He had just retired from the Air Force, and was looking for a
new career.
He succeeded.
Willie worked with coders to develop automation allowing him to market through email to prospects
differently than he did to existing customers. His methods are still good today.
Willie is also one of the most generous souls you will ever meet. I’ve had lunch with him twice, and
came away with more valuable information than I got from the seminar we were both attending.
7. Before you attempt to build a huge list of email subscribers,
or an enourmous social media following you need to build a
small one.
Building a huge list or following is meaningless if you don’t
know how to find the people that belong on your list, or
following your posts.
Then and only then do you know enough to scale that up into a larger following.
Willie Crawford, the father of internet marketing says that once you have them on your list
your job is to try and get them off of it. If you can, they were not your people anyway.

9. Content Marketing is the digital marketing equivalent
of organic growth.
As you publish quality content relevant to your market,
your reputation in the marketplace will rise in direct
correlation to the usefulness of what you have
provided.
Plant your seeds consistently and your growth will be
steady and dependable.
10. Few products or services are truly for everyone. Which means that
the story your marketing tells should not be for everyone either.
Remember to tell your story to the “Smallest Viable Audience”
because otherwise you are talking to the air.
That group of people are the ones that will not just use your
product or service but become passionate about your story.
They become your tribe, joining you on your journey and eventually they are also a part of
the story. Both in its content, and its telling.
11. Frank Kern is best known as the creator of a marketing
course titled Mass Control.
Frank made his bones as a marketer selling information
products through Google Adwords clearing very small
margins on enormous numbers of sales.
It goes without saying that Frank always knows his
numbers.
Do you?
12. Frank Kern is one of the most sought after consultants in
marketing.
What did he do a few years back when he saw ad results
falling off across a wide range of markets?
He spoke to consultants. That’s right, one of the highest
paid consultants of all hired specialized help.
What does that tell you?
13. Early in my online career I learned the value of ongoing
marketing education.
One of the first courses I purchased was The Midas Method by
Stuart Goldsmith which turned out to be about direct mail
marketing.
I had little to no interest in starting a direct mail business, but learned so much
marketing theory that I still use constantly today.
Marketing principles are nearly always universal. Usable over and over again.
14. For years, if you wanted to know how to drive traffic to websites or webpages
using article marketing Sean Mize was the go to expert in the field.
Over those years, nearly everything about article marketing has changed.
There are no longer hundreds of websites to publish your articles to, and posting
that many duplicate articles (even “spun” articles) would send Google into
apoplectic convulsions assuring your content got consistently ignored.
Sean mentored me without ever knowing it. I bought his courses, and more importantly watched what he did
with his articles and became a dedicated content marketer before anyone was using the term.
Converting readers into website visitors into subscribers and finally into paying customers was a PhD in
content marketing from the school of Sean Mize.
