2. What is Redundancy?
• Redundancy
the state of being not or no longer needed or useful.
• Redundancy is when someone gets told they have to leave
their job, either because his/her employer(s) cannot afford
to keep them, or the worker is not good enough/doesn't
get enough done. E.g. a man and woman are working in a
restaurant. The man(Joe) doesn't do much, his job is to
wait(ask customers what they want, and to then serve it)
and the woman(Amy) does the same. In one day, Amy can
wait the full room twice over, whereas Joe, only waits four
or five tables. Amy and Joes management would make Joe
redundant because he doesn't do his job properly, and the
management cannot afford him.
3. Negative effects
• Being made redundant could cause you stress
and whilst doing so could cause stress to your
relationship/family. Redundancy could end up
with people being left to cope alone due to
relationship problems caused by redundancy.
• You could get anxiety and also start having
financial problems. Such as getting in arrears with
your debt/rent/gas and water.
• Here are some common effects of redundancy
shock/disbelief/anger and loss.
4. Positive effects
• It's a load off your mind, you can search for
another way to make ends meet while
meeting new people, TAX WRITE OFFS, you
don't have to put up with a moody boss, you
can use your brilliant mind to achieve goals
that you didn't achieve because you held the
position you had.
6. • Family would support you when you are made
redundant and friends would also.
• Family and friends are the closest support you
can get, I mean relationship issues may come
up but your family would support you through
that aswell as your redundancy.
