BARRY G. DAVIDSON
SUMMARY
I have developed my professional and interpersonal skills while providing services to community and corporate
clients over the past many decades. My work has included the development of policy, guidelines and strategies
for government, non-for-profits, business and community organizations and continue to serve as an advisor to
many organizations and individuals. I have developed and directed logistics and risk operations for major events
such as the 1988 Winter Olympics, G8, World Petroleum Congress and other high profile, sensitive events. I have
also successfully created and run several small to medium sized businesses that have reached into global mar-
kets and I have a keen understanding of the importance of connectivity.
Further, I bring a wide range of management experience in the public and private sector, including having created
and managed a team of community volunteers, technology consultants and law enforcement personnel to combat
crime in the inner city. I have lead the creation of several coalitions of government agencies, community and busi-
ness groups as well as creating an international crime prevention association with more than 400 members in 20
countries.
I am a professional consultant with more than 20 years experience supporting business organizations and con-
sulting firms in the areas of personal and business integrity, risk, logistics and planning. I have successfully
worked in Microsoft and mixed Microsoft/Unix environments supporting in-house IT departments and consulting
firms to recover from near disastrous failures and designing server side data and communications infrastructure.

Law Enforcement Connectivity
Served with the Calgary Police Service in the Communications Section, as well as, the Victim Assistance
Unit in the late 1980‘s and early 1990‘s. I bring extensive connectivity and understanding of organizational
culture in the Calgary Police Service, social services and health through my work in several non-profit
realms and political involvement at the municipal and provincial levels.
My personal passion has always been in the area of community development and engagement and as a
result I created the Graffiti Response & Information Team in 1999. I have worked successfully with several
community organizations around mobilizing to resolve social issues in their areas.
Co-Chair of the Youth Diversity Soccer Tournament for the past 5 years, a joint community/police event that
allows more than 850 youth that normally do not have the opportunity to play organized sport to come
together for a weekend of soccer. This effort has recently evolved into its own society which will carry the
event into the future.
Political Connectivity
Directly involved as a political advisor and strategist to several municipal and provincial politicians and
have successfully managed campaigns for Councillors, successful provincial campaigns, as well as a
direct relationship with senior officials at all levels and parties.
Calgary Homeless Foundation/Social Agency Connectivity
Over the past 30 months I have served as the volunteer Chair of the Community Action Committee (CAC),
a group of more than 100 social serving and government agencies that work with our homeless clients.
This group was formerly a standalone Community Advisory Board that advised on Federal funding from the
Homeless Partnering Strategy until the development of Calgary’s 10 Year plan to End Homelessness. I am
very proud to say that, as of this month, the CAC has developed a foundational document and we are in
the process of creating a business plan and strategic direction that will allow the CAC to operate in a more
organized direction and advise all levels of government and private sector in the areas of policy,
coordinated response and real time social issue identification. I am very proud of what we have
accomplished. The CAC has positioned themselves to be the stewards of the 10 Year plan after 2018 and I
know that many on the Calgary Homeless Foundation Board shares my thoughts as I sit on the board as a
Director as well.
International Connectivity/Diversity
My experience also extends internationally in this realm as the Founder of an international crime
prevention association called the International CPTED Association (www.cpted.net). This organization now
boasts a membership of over 400 in more than 30 countries and includes some of the top criminologists
and sociologists in the world.
As well, I deliver training programs in the areas of graffiti reduction/response, crime prevention through
environmental design (CPTED), crime/social risk and response, community engagement and community
building in Australia, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, South Korea and the United States.
Present as the keynote address at law enforcement and planning conferences in the areas of CPTED and
next generation community engagement

Educational/Leadership Experience
My wife and I have created a unique private school in Calgary that is a publicly accredited and funded that
delivers customized education. (www.phoenixfoundation.ca) I am the current Board Chair and we are very
proud to have just passed our 8th year and serve more that 180 students and families.
I have developed several programs including the StreetSmart program to combat child abduction and
abuse in the 1990‘s, some of the most popular programs within the Calgary Board of Education –
Continuing Education Division’s and other community groups for many years.
Currently a Facilitator delivering the Alberta Basic Security Training program at Columbia College and have
guest lectured at Mount Royal University, South Korean Police University and Edith Cowan University in
Australia and others
Community Connectivity
Community leadership roles have included board positions with the Kinsmen Club of Calgary, the
Cosmopolitan Club of Calgary (which my father founded in the 1940’s), Society for Safe and Caring
Schools, Scouts Canada, Mosquito Restoration Society and Kinsmen Club of Calgary Bowmont. I was also
involved with John Hugget and the Children’s Hospital Foundation team that brought the Children’s Miracle
Network to Calgary many years ago.
Risk Management/Business Experience
I have spent much of my past 20 year career developing and deploying logistics plans that are primarily
high risk. This includes projects that touched my VIP security realm and I have honed my operational skills
around identifying and resolving potential risks to people, projects and organizations including the
development of communications plans and speaking points.
As the owner of a successful network computer company for 17 years, I have a clear and deep
understanding of technology within an organization along with the need for business continuity planning
and support. Many of our clients were non-profit organizations such as the EPCOR Centre, Calgary Opera,
Wordfest and others.
As a long serving Board member on a Family Trust Fund I am involved in financial evaluations and
decisions on a regular basis and have a very good understanding of operational budgeting and forecasting.

This effort has recently evolved into its own society which will carry the event into the future. Political Connectivity Directly involved as a political advisor and strategist to several municipal and provincial politicians and have successfully managed campaigns for Councillors, successful provincial campaigns, as well as a direct relationship with senior officials at all levels and parties. Calgary Homeless Foundation/Social Agency Connectivity Over the past 30 months I have served as the volunteer Chair of the Community Action Committee (CAC), a group of more than 100 social serving and government agencies that work with our homeless clients. This group was formerly a standalone Community Advisory Board that advised on Federal funding from the Homeless Partnering Strategy until the development of Calgary’s 10 Year plan to End Homelessness. I am very proud to say that, as of this month, the CAC has developed a foundational document and we are in the process of creating a business plan and strategic direction that will allow the CAC to operate in a more organized direction and advise all levels of government and private sector in the areas of policy, coordinated response and real time social issue identification. I am very proud of what we have accomplished. The CAC has positioned themselves to be the stewards of the 10 Year plan after 2018 and I know that many on the Calgary Homeless Foundation Board shares my thoughts as I sit on the board as a Director as well. International Connectivity/Diversity My experience also extends internationally in this realm as the Founder of an international crime prevention association called the International CPTED Association (www.cpted.net). This organization now boasts a membership of over 400 in more than 30 countries and includes some of the top criminologists and sociologists in the world. As well, I deliver training programs in the areas of graffiti reduction/response, crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED), crime/social risk and response, community engagement and community building in Australia, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, South Korea and the United States. Present as the keynote address at law enforcement and planning conferences in the areas of CPTED and next generation community engagement Page January 20174

Risk Management/Business Experience I have spent much of my past 20 year career developing and deploying logistics plans that are primarily high risk. This includes projects that touched my VIP security realm and I have honed my operational skills around identifying and resolving potential risks to people, projects and organizations including the development of communications plans and speaking points. As the owner of a successful network computer company for 17 years, I have a clear and deep understanding of technology within an organization along with the need for business continuity planning and support. Many of our clients were non-profit organizations such as the EPCOR Centre, Calgary Opera, Wordfest and others.
