Oct 2015 – April 2016 Sea Trust CIC Project Coordinator
Overseeing administration including data input, calculating volunteer and employee hours,
coordinating educational school visits and activities, organisation of events, involved with funding
applications and managing social media websites. Marine mammal observing and monitoring
activities were also a daily and essential part of the post.
July - Oct 2015: Seatrust CIC Marine Mammal Observer
Working on a self-employed basis as a Marine Mammal Observer, off shore and land based.
Recording sightings of cetaceans and other marine life around Fishguard Bay and Pembrokeshire;
working with volunteers on a p/t basis. Tour guide at Ocean Lab’s aquarium, assisting with upkeep
of marine aquaria of local fish species. This post has allowed me to meet, work and socialize with
people from all walks of life, backgrounds and countries, since I began volunteering with the
organization in 2011.
June-July 2015: AHVLA Administrative Officer
Working on a short term employment contract with the TB reactor removal team at Carmarthen’s
Ty Merlin. Processing cases for TB management in Wales.
Nov & Dec 2014: Pembrokeshire College with Low Carbon ResearchInstitute
Self-employed short-term project work completed in conjunction with the LCRI (part of UWTSD
Swansea Met University) The work involved timed scans using relevant camera equipment, for
porpoise activity at Ramsey Sound, and recording data using Excel.

Due to redundancy, work with HMRC at Carmarthen ceased in April 2014
2013-2014 Working in different business areas due to re-deployment, e.g. Customs Handling
International and Personal Transport Unit processing applications, applying accurate data entry
skills and data analysis. I also assisted with Inspectors' work dealing with bank details analysis
2008-2013 Part of the Business Support Team completing marketing and project work. Project work
involving collation of customer data using Excel for mail merge and bulk print purposes, working to
deadlines. Working as part of a small team marketing webinar links, drafting spreadsheets and
templates, customer contact and issuing marketing letters to self-employed businesses and
employers. Previously, customer booking for classroom events, organizing room bookings and
minute taking.
2002-2008 Varied administrative and responsible roles with the VAT Registration Unit, including
VAT and complex variations, a member of the team for e-VAT, processing live customer calls and
requests for change of details.
Transferable skills acquired:- working autonomously and as a team member, adapting to continuous
work change patterns, problem solving through departmental policy, and possessing confidentiality
and discretion having signed the Official Secrets Act. Participation, contribution and prioritising in
daily and weekly meetings as part of the department’s continual improvement process.
1996-2002: Next Retail Ltd – Senior Sales/Floor Manager
Floor Manager status involved managing the day to day running of Menswear, providing a polite
and friendly atmosphere to all customers and visitors, managing stock, training staff and planning
weekly rotas. Other duties included handling large amounts of money during till operation and
cashing up, floor management and merchandising using sales figures and was also a registered store
key holder.
Pre-1996: Administrator with Evans, Powell & Co Solicitors, Llanelli
As first point of contact on reception, booking client and solicitor appointments. Liaising with
neighbouring solicitors for Commissioner for Oaths, maintaining filing systems, booking
appointments and some typing work.
Interests and Hobbies
I enjoy wildlife watching and am a member of the Marine Conservation Society and Wildlife Trusts.
I like sea swimming, take dance lessons and am also a member of the Llanelli Social Meet-up
group, attending a varied agenda locally. Genealogy is also a major interest, successful in research
back to the late 1700s. I have previously completed volunteer work for Sea Trust CIC at Fishguard,
the National Trust at Llandeilo and Dyfed Archaeological Trust at Ferryside. Currently volunteering
for Sea Trust, Pembrey Country Park on various ranger duties, and as a STEM Ambassador.
