How does Addressable and Conventional type Fire Detection System differ?
Every device connected to the addressable system has its own unique address. When a fire is detected, the
device’s address shows up on the main control panel, telling us exactly which device has been activated.
This will enable us to find the exact location of a fire and extinguish it quickly.
With a conventional system, there is no way of pinpointing the exact location of the fire. However, by
wiring our building into different zones, we can get a general idea of where the fire is.
Conventional alarm panels cost a lot less to buy but are more expensive to install. This is because each
device that is being connected needs its own wire. With addressable systems, one wire loop will connect
several devices. This means conventional systems require more wire and more man hours during the
installation phase.
In HO, we have successfully installed addressable type fire detection system for both front & rear buildings,
replacing the old conventional type detection system. The new system is more reliable than the old system
that was in use.
A training program on the newly installed system was conducted by the manufacturer for BL Operators and
Security personnel at the Corporate Office.
TISS was engaged for the evaluation of CSR & Sustainable Development Projects for the year 2013-14. As
part of this, TISS representatives visited most of the sites where water backpacks were distributed. The
response was very encouraging from the village women folk who were using the water backpacks. TISS
also evaluated the 160 KWp of Solar Power Plant installations at Taloja and Asaoti.

  • 5. How does Addressable and Conventional type Fire Detection System differ? Every device connected to the addressable system has its own unique address. When a fire is detected, the device’s address shows up on the main control panel, telling us exactly which device has been activated. This will enable us to find the exact location of a fire and extinguish it quickly. With a conventional system, there is no way of pinpointing the exact location of the fire. However, by wiring our building into different zones, we can get a general idea of where the fire is. Conventional alarm panels cost a lot less to buy but are more expensive to install. This is because each device that is being connected needs its own wire. With addressable systems, one wire loop will connect several devices. This means conventional systems require more wire and more man hours during the installation phase. In HO, we have successfully installed addressable type fire detection system for both front & rear buildings, replacing the old conventional type detection system. The new system is more reliable than the old system that was in use. A training program on the newly installed system was conducted by the manufacturer for BL Operators and Security personnel at the Corporate Office.
