2. ◦ Resistor: a electrical component or part that
creates a resistance to electricity.
◦ Fuse: a type of low-resistance resistor
◦ Load: a component that uses electricity, such as a
microwave, razor, light bulb, etc.
◦ Switch: an electrical part that can break a circuit
or interrupt/divert current.
3. Voltage (V): simply the difference in potential
energy from the where the charge beings to
where it end. Think of it as pressure pushing
electrons around.
Current (I): the flow of electrons through a
circuit per second, measured in amperes (A).
Ohm (Ω): the amount of resistance, equal to
one volt creating one ampere or V/A.
4. An electrical circuit is the path a group of
electrons will travel from point A to B.
These electrons want to go from the negative
to psotive terminal in a loop. They are pushed
by voltage.
5. These moving electrons carry energy that can
power a load (i.e. a light bulb). They will pass
through the load, then continue on to the
positive terminal of the battery.
6. Switches are used to break circuits or interrupt or divert current. In the “On”
position, a conducting material drops to close the gap and complete the
circuit.
In the “Off” position, that material lifts and creates a gap.
