2. WRITING Process of materialising thinking into a tangibly scripted form.
Time consuming: requires continuous reflection by going through the analytical
and synthetical process.
INDUSTRIAL PRACTICE REPORT
Reflect “what a student has learned” from the supervision process instead of
“what a student has done” throughout the entire program.

3. Allocate time for
writing
Devoted few hours daily to achieve the targeted number of words
every day/ write till drops from exhaustion.
Write when
memory is fresh
Keep a dairy or logbook which records daily activities during the
Industrial Training program.
Establish a conducive
writing place
The place provides psychological comfort that will enhance the
productivity, identify the distractions and remove it.
Setting goals
Set targets for period of writing (time spent), number of words
written or pages completed.
Generating a
writing-up plan
Start with devising the headings or subheadings that match with
the layout of the report required (mind-mapping & gantt chart)

11. Writing up the report
1) Use word processing – backing up all copies of work is crucial!!
2) Length of the report – comply the university’s guidelines.
3) Presenting data in tables and figures – easier to read and trace.
4) Writing-up with clarity and simplicity – make the full description or explanation
of the abbreviations (beginning of the chapter, footnote, glossary.
5) Own comment – opinion or comment is welcome to demonstrate an
understanding of A.P.I.

12. Write-up Completion (Before submission)
1) Checking on spelling and grammar – dictionaries, thesaurus, spelling and
grammar check facilities & manually re-read the work.
2) Preserving the organisational confidentiality– approval must be obtained from
the organisation supervisor before using the organisation’s materials.
Eg: informant designation (Manager 1, Engineer 1) / general tag (Co-worker 1)
3) Continual revision – to refine and polish the report.
4) Proof-reading work– get someone to read through the report to detect errors,
examine the quality and provide innovative ideas.
