Visual media like document cameras have several advantages for classroom learning according to the document. 2. ADVANTAGES OF VISUAL MEDIA
•NO PRODUCTION IS REQUIRED, THERE IS ON THE STOP DOCUMENTATION. THREE
DIMENSIONAL OBJECTS ARE ALSO PORTRAYED AND IT CAN BE MAGNIFIED TO SEE
CLOSE UP.
•THE VIEW IS GREAT, IT CAN BE SEEN BY ALL STUDENTS, THE VIEW IS ALSO EQUAL.
•STUDENT GROUP WORK CAN BE SEEN EASILY.
•THE ROOM DOESN’T NEED ANY SPECIAL EFFECTS LIKE DIMMING OF LIGHT.
3. LIMITATIONS
•THERE ARE A LOT OF HARDWARE WHICH NEEDS TO BE MOVED AROUND.
•THE PROJECT CANNOT BE SEEN WITHOUT A MONITOR OR PROJECTOR, IT IS
ALWAYS NEEDED.
•DOCUMENT CAMERAS ALWAYS NEEDS ADDITIONAL LIGHTS, THESE LIGHTS
ARE VERY MUCH EXPENSIVE.
4. INTEGRATION
IN A STANDARD TWO CLASS, STUDENTS WILL BE DOING SCIENCE, LOOKING AT
CARNIVORES AND HERBIVORES. STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO;
•DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN A CARNIVORE AND HERBIVORE.
STUDENTS WILL BE SHOWN SLIDES OF BOTH ANIMAL GROUPS GIVING THE
DEFINITION OF EACH AND SHOWING PICTURES OF EACH. THEY WILL ALSO BE ABLE
TO VIEW THE TYPE OF FOOD A CARNIVORE AND A HERBIVORE EATS. THIS WAY THEY
CAN IDENTIFY ONE OF THE OTHER.
5. ENCODING ACTIVITY
AFTER VIEWING A VIDEO ON THE STEPS IN GROWING A BEAN PLANT. ALL THE STUDENTS WILL BE
ABLE TO CREATE A VIDEO ON A BEAN PLANT IN WHICH THEY GREW FOR THEMSELVES,
DOCUMENTING ALL THE OBSERVATION MADE.
6. DECODING ACTIVITY
BY VIEWING THIS IMAGE, STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO CREATE A THREE PARAGRAPH STORY.
