How to use Active IQ tool to access filer information
1. How to use Active IQ tool to access
FILER information such as:
Cable Diagram
Stack Diagram
RAID-DISK Visualization
Hardware Capacity Headroom
Storage summary
2. 1) Go to NetApp support :
http://support.netapp.com
2) Log in using valid credentials: (If you have never registered, then please click on the Register
button on the support page and follow the prompts. Note: You must have a valid NetApp
Filer serial numbers to register against)
3. 3) Once logged in: From the Top menu-bar, click on ‘Tools’ and select ‘Active IQ’.
4) This will take you to the following screen; you just have to enter the name of the
Cluster/Filer that you want to review. You could simply enter initial letters of the FILER
Name and it will automatically pop-up the full names. In the example below I choose:
SANCL1.
4. 5) Once you are taken to Cluster Page for SANCL1: click on the ‘Configuration’ button.
6) Once the configuration page is loaded: There are multiple options on the menu-bar, on the
far right is the most interesting & useful bit and is called ‘Visualization’.
5. 7) In this example : I have chosen CABLE Visualization
You can save this image by clicking on Export to SVG: This Visualization is based on the last triggered
AutoSupport; hence it may not be fully updated with any current changes since last update.
Autosupport is generated every Sunday @ midnight automatically.
Comments: Similarly, you can switch to different tabs, drill in and get to familiarize with the
different data types contained within those Menu options. Sometimes, it takes time to load
b’cos it pumps the data from the last AutoSupport and then enumerates into visuals and
populates other data fields.
However, if you are a little patient with the tool, you can extract a lot of valuable
information from this Active-IQ tool.
