3. Introduction :-
Paper recycling related to the processes of
reprocessing waste paper for reuse. Waste
papers are either obtained from paper mill
paper scraps, discarded paper materials, and
waste paper material discarded after consumer
use.
4. Which Paper is Recycled?
Newspaper,magazines and catalogs
Shredded paper
Phone books and paperbacks
Loose paper and envelops
Paper bags
Cardboard and egg cartons
Pads and File folder
6. Collection, Transportion & Sorting
1. Paper is taken from bin
and deposited in large
container along with
paper from other
recycling bin.
2.Then it is sorted
according to the grades
then it is transported
to the mill.
7. Storage
1.Paper mill workers unload
the recovered paper and
put it into warehouses,
where it is stored until
needed.
2. The various paper
grades such as newspapers
and corrugated boxes are
kept separate.
3.Then forklifts move the
paper from the ware house
to large conveyors.
8. Repulping and Screening
The paper is moved to the
pulper which contain water
and chemicals, then paper
is breaked into cellolusic
fibers by heating.
Then pulp goes to the
screening process where
the small contaminants
such as:- bits of plastic,
globs of glue etc…
9. Cleaning & Deinking
Mills also clean pulp
by spinning it around
large cone-shaped
cylinders.
Sometimes the pulp
must undergo a “pulp
laundering” operation
called deinking to
remove printing ink
and stickies.
10. Refining,Bleaching & Colour Stripping
The main objectives of this process
are:-
1.To make the recycled fibres swell
2.In case of large bundles of fibres,
refining process is applied
3.Colour stripping is used for dye
removal(if any).
Chemical Used- NaOH,Calcium salts.
11. Paper Making
The steps involved in this process
are:-
1.Mixing of the pulp with water
& chemicals. Watery pulp sent to
the headbox.
2.Now spread in a continuous
manner on the huge flat wire
screen
3.Lastly the thin sheet passes
through the heated metal rollers
for drying.
12. Advantages of recycling Paper
Recycling newspaper saves 14% of landfill space.
Recycling one ton of paper can save 17 trees.
Reduce sulfur dioxide emission.
Leaves more trees for sustainability of our environment.
Saves 60% energy
13. Uses Of Recycled Paper
Paperboard
Egg cartons
Paper towels
Tissue papers
Toilet papers
Newspaper
Paper bags
Notebooks
Calendars.
14. Conclusion
Recycling of paper is reprocessing of used paper.
This reduces waste produced. Recycling of paper
saves energy and environment. It also provides
employment.
