Natalie and the photographer scheduled a photoshoot after school on a Thursday to take pictures for a school magazine article. They discussed outfit options that fit a "punk" style and color scheme to make editing easier. On the agreed date of March 24th, they met outside of school grounds to take advantage of the forest backdrop and natural lighting. The photographer took around 20 shots to have options and tried an action shot but it blurred due to equipment limitations. Natalie was chosen as the model because of her photography knowledge to understand posing needs for the article.
1. Planning for Megaphone shoot:
Natalie De Arez Cintra: Same free period after lunch on Thursdays,
discussed costume possibilities
I asked her to wear ‘punk’ style lace up boots. I had seen her wear these
before I knew she suited the ‘look’ and ‘style’ for the genre and target
audience I wanted to attract. I asked her to wear clothes complying with
the grey/black/purple colour scheme so it would be easier to edit.
Once we sorted out the date [24th March], we met up outside of the
College grounds and took photos there as we’d both know the
environment, and the forest backdrop and brick wall provided an
interesting place to shoot. This way we’d also be close to college for
resources.
I took a total of around 20 shots to create variety and choice.
During the shoot I tried to take a photo of Natalie mid-
jump, but my camera had no action shot function and it
kept blurring. Our timing was also off so we decided against
this shot, and I took some others.
I chose Natalie as a model because she takes photography
and that way it would be easier for us to talk about what I
wanted to portray and she would understand how to pose. Natalie
also came up with the idea of hiding behind the tree – a fun, happy
concept that I thought suited the article well.
I wanted to do this shoot outside because the lighting was much
better. If I did it inside I would have to organise lighting, which I did
not have the resources to do. Natural light is always my preference
as I think it looks best and my camera also works better in daylight.
