3. Origin of the PML
• The Pakistan Muslim league is the oldest party of
Pakistan.
• Before the partition, the PMLN is known as all
india muslim leauge
• Before the formation of all India Muslim league a
political party existed that had come into being in
1885 referred to as the Indian national congress.
• With the passage of time it become the most
powerful party in India.
4. • The indian national congress attitude towards,
indian muslim was not favorable and sir syed
Ahmad khan advised muslim not to join this
party. According to his view the congress was
a Hindu organization that only worked for the
betterment and interest of the Hindus of
India.
5. • On 30 december1906, All India Muslim league
was formed. Nawab-waqar-ul-malik was
appointed first president and Nawab-Mohsin-
ul-Mulk was appointed as the first general
secretary of all india muslim league.
6. Reasons for the establishment of all
india Muslim league
• The reason for the establishment of all india
Muslim league were:
• To promote the feeling of loyalist among the
muslim of india and british government .
• To promote the political rights and interest of
muslim of india.
• To eliminate the feeling of hostility among the
muslim of india and other communities.
7. Party Division
• When Zia-ul-Haq dissmised the government of
Muhammad khan junejo. Junejo lost power
the party was divided into two groups. The
PML Junejo group and PML Nawaz Sharief
group.
8. First Term
• Election for the National and provincial
assemblies were held on 24-27 October 1990. IJI
secured 105 N.A seats while PPP gained 45,
Nawaz Sharif become P.M
• President Gulam ishaq khan dissolved the
national assembly on 18 April 1993 once again
exercising his power through the 8 amendment.
• The power struggle and war between Nawaz
sharif and president khan started. Finally, on July
1993, Sharif resigned under pressure from the
Pakistan Armed Forces
9. Second term
• As scheduled elections were held on 3
February 1997.
• Pakistan muslim league won with2/3 majority.
• It secured 134 Na seats while PPP gained 18
10. Sharif return
• In 2007 after the years in exile the supreme
court of Pakistan ruled the both Nawaz Sharif
and His brother Shahbaz Sharif were free to
return to pakistan.
• 2008-2013 PMLN party had formed a coalition
government led by the PPP.
11. THIRD term
• In may 2013 nawaz sharif was elected as a P.M
of Pakistan for the third time
• The sharif government back a pakistan ranger
led operation in Karachi, aim at rooting out
crime and terrorisim from the metropolitian
city.
• In november 2013 nawaz sharif was signed on

12. • In 2014 nawaz sharef faced mounting pressure
from opposition parties regarding claim in
2013 election.
13. FALLS
• 1990, nawaz sharif camp aligned for the
general election as chief of islami jamhoori
ittehad.
• But soon fell foul with president ishaq khan as
he wanted to accumulate total power. The
power struggle led to his fall. then both
president and priminister to resign.
14. • In 2014 nawaz sharef faced mounting pressure
from opposition parties regarding claim in
2013 election.
• In 2016 after the leak of panama paper nawaz
daughter Mariyam Nawaz was identified as
the beneficial owner of two offshore
companies.
15. • In October the panama paper case was taken
by super court of pakistan to investigate
claims of money and tax by the sharif family.
• Nawaz sharif could not complete his terms
because of his confrontation with other pillars
of state with the president and with the
military.
• Nawaz was removed as PMLN head in
feaburay 2018.
