Topic: Cinderella
Unit: 2 (Still We Rise)
Teacher: Subramanyan . K
School: GV& HSS, Vellanad TVM.
Outcomes:
 Student shouldbe able to interact in English
 Learner should read and appreciatea story
 Learner should be able to preparea skit
 Learner should be able to preparean announcement
 Learner should become hopeful that hardships will
end one day.
Procedure:
 Teacher appears simple in dressing and style and
asks about the assignment of last class
 Teacher reads out the assignment which one of the
studentssend to him
 Shows the picture of the prince as a clue to the
assignment. Link talk of the last class, helps
studentsto recall the activities of the last class.
 Explains the story so far with properexpressions
and is successful in generating interest.
 Reads the paragraph with proper stress and
pronunciationin a dialogic style, which gave a feel
of drama to audience.
 Paragraph is read once again to give more clarity to
students.
 Teacher reads the summary of the paragraph.
 Teacher recountsthe chapterby telling that every
hardship has its end
 Teacher explains the meaning of the difficult words
with the help of pictures.
 Teacher instructs studentsto record their reading of
any paragraph from the chapterand send it to their
teacher.
 Teacher invites anotherteacher to show studentsto
how to make Cinderellagown in a craft form.
 Teacher makes the Cinderellagown with the help
of required material
 Teacher concludesthe class by instructing that
studentsshould once again read the story.
Reflection:At the first appearanceitself the teacher
looks very simple, calm and quiet, a personalitywhich
the sixth standard student could relateto, he greets
studentsand asks about the last assignment. The teacher
effectively summarizes the portion taught in the last
class and gives an overview about the next portion the
story in a very simple and lucid way. I liked the way the
teacher taught in a simple manner, he had enough time
to read the text twice and to summarize the same, he
was never in a hurry, he had time for everything. The
judicious use of mother tongue here and there made the
class even more effective, I wish I could take such a
simple class. The teacher effectively explains the
difficult words with pictures which is a good technique.
Finally teacher involves studentsin an interesting
activity of making the Cinderellagown which is taught
by anotherteacher. Involving in such activity will let
the children remember the story of Cinderellafor a long
time. Overall I would say that it was one of the best
class I have seen so far which was simple yet effective.
It would have been more effective if the teacher smiled
more.
Visuals Presented:

 Pictures related to the story
 Pictures related to word meanings
 Craft making
