ABSTRACT
I have over 20 years of experience in
software research and development. For the
past six and a half years I have been
managing the development team of VIP Total
Solutions. This product has over 27 000
users. My biggest drive is to create software
that is reliable, stable and that has ease of
use. I like to create opportunities for the
people around me, mentoring young up-an-
coming talent, and bringing out the best in
others. My background makes me an old-
school hard-core programmer with a passion
for code “that just works” and which is
delivered on time! Although striving for
excellence is a focus when releasing stable
software, I also believe that this should be
done efficiently. I strive to produce "fresh"
software while inspiring the team to BE out of
the box, not only to think out of the box.
Combining the old with new technology and
witnessing the excitement of this
combination, makes my world addictive.

Project Management
- Using Agile Methodology to deliver stable software on time. (Jira)
- Planning all release dates and manage project accordingly to ensure
all legislative requirements are met, new features are included and
enhancements are done.
- Planning and working with external Development team regarding the
Hybrid cloud solution of the Cobol system.
- Manage the Cobol Developers, Report Specialists and .Net
developers. Responsible for the performance appraisals and
performance management and team ratings.
- Liaise with Quality Control team for testing and ensure that the Total
Solutions software is synchronised with the release date of the Cobol
Software.
- Planning and delivering of software to a base of 27 000 users each
release, on-time.
- Part of the strategic Product Operational Committee to do future
planning and give direction for the roadmaps.
- Road shows to roll out new software to our client base.
Application Design
- Working mostly alone on application specifications covering
objectives, scope and software environments, all the application
functions, strategies and phasing of development.
- Working on existing applications, specific interfaces.
- Translate business specifications into technical specifications.
- Documents all work according to standards.
Programming and Software Creation
- Design programs and do modifications from specifications to agreed
standards.
- Create and amend programs.
- Responsible for API layer between .Net systems and the current
COBOL systems.
- Maintain the software storage and security.
Consultant Support
- Provide constant support and advice to the VIP Support Consultants.
