One day, a group of friends went to the beach and they brought
all their sand toys. When they got there they decided to make a sand
castle, so they got out their shovels and pails. When they started to
build the castle, they realized the sand was too dry and they got
really sad. Then, one friend got an idea! He told his friends they
should get some water from the ocean for the sand was too dry.
They thought that was a great idea and they ran toward the ocean
with their pails. They did not know if they should get one pail or two
pails full, but they decided it was better to be safe than sorry, so they
got two. They filled their pails with water yet it was not enough. Then
run again towards the ocean. Alas! The water worked perfectly and
they were able to make giant sand castle!

3. How do we use them in the

Conjunction is a joining word. We use
conjunctions to join two words,
phrases, and clauses to make one long
sentence.
There are two types of conjunctions:
1. Coordinating Conjunctions
2. Subordinating Conjunctions
Coordinating Conjunctions join elements of
a sentence that are similar. They join words,
phrases, and clauses.
There are seven coordinating conjunctions
They give equal importance to the words
sentences they connect.
Coordinating Conjunctions are known as
“FANBOY” mnemonic to easily memorize:
F – for, for telling why; shows reason or purpose
He got sick for he works hard without sleep.
A – and, the same, similar or equal
His favorite sports are tennis and badminton.
N- nor, connects non-contrasting negative ideas
She did not water the plants nor sweep the floor.
B – but, for contrast
I drink milk but I never drinks softdrinks.
O – or, before an alternative; you have choices
Would you like sugar or milk with your coffe?
Y – yet, despite something; but still
He’s sick yet he continues to work on.
S- so, shows a result or consequence
