A Powerpoint Presentation about Input and Output Devices of Computers in the Computer Subject. I'm now a professional teacher and this powerpoint presentation was used during my teaching demonstration in Sicayab National High School.
4. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the students can:
Identify the different kinds of input and
output devices
Explain the importance and use of
input and output devices
Distinguish the devices whether it is an
input or output device
5. INPUT DEVICE
Input devices are those devices
from which we can input data and
instructions into the computers.
An input device helps you to
communicate with the computer.
To enter information and issue
commands, you use input devices.
6. Examples of input devices:
Keyboard
Mouse
Scanner
Microphone
Digital Camera and Web Camera
7. The keyboard is the most common and widely used input
device.
It is made up of buttons called 'keys'.
KEYBOARD
8. A mouse is an input devices that fits comfortably
under the palm of your hand.
A mouse is a pointing device.
We use mouse to control the movement of the mouse
pointer on the screen and to make selections from
the screen.
MOUSE
10. A scanner is a light-sensing input device that reads
printed text and graphics and then translates the
results into a form the computer can use.
The image or text can be saved or changed on the
computer.
SCANNER
12. microphone
Device that converts electric pulses into broadcast or
recorded sounds.
A microphone allows you to record your voice to
the computer.
It also lets you speak to other people using
computers or even on the telephone.
A microphone is also called a mic.
MICROPHONE
14. Web camera
Miniature digital camera used to transmit video images in real
time or for videoconferencing over the Internet.
digital camcorder
Portable video camera in which the recording tape is replaced
by a processor, which records and stores sounds and images
in digital format.
digital camera
Camera that contains a sensor and a microprocessor rather
than film; it records and stores images in digital form, which
can then be viewed on a screen.

WEB CAMERA
16. OUTPUT DEVICE
Output devices are hardware devices that
display or present information to the user or
other people.
The data that has been processed into a useful
form is called OUTPUT.
Output is the result we get through output
devices.
18. A monitor is an output device similar to a television
screen.
It is used to display text and graphics.
There are several types of monitor:
video monitor
Device with a cathode ray surface that displays computer-
generated graphics and texts visually.
flat screen monitor
Thin screen that usually has a liquid crystal display or plasma
display surface.

20. A printer is an output device that print text and
graphics from a computer onto paper.
A printer can produce both black and white and
colour images.
Examples of printers are:
• Laser printer – print created by applying ink powder (toner) to
drum
• Dot-matrix printer – print using the typewriter approach by
pushing the pins against the ink ribbon to form characters.
• Ink-jet printer - print created by spraying dots of ink onto paper

22. A speaker allows you to hear the sound generated
by your computer.
Speaker produces sound or music.
SPEAKERS
23. Headphone is used to listen
to music and sounds.
Headphone usually have
strap that rests on top of the
head and a pair of speakers
over both ears.

24. Let’s go back!
What are the two types of devices that we
have discussed?
What are the examples of input devices that
we can use or find in a computer? How
about the output devices?
How important are the input and output
devices for computers?
25. Let’s apply!
Group Activity:
The learners are divided into four groups – the same
group that they had during the motivational activity.
Group the following pictures of the devices whether it
belongs to the input or output devices
26. EVALUATION
Directions: Identify the following devices
whether it belongs to the input and
output devices group.
Write IP if it is an input device, and OP
if it is an output device.
28. 1. Keyboard IP
2. Mouse IP
3. Monitor OP
4. Microphone IP
5. Printer OP
6. Speakers OP
7. Headphones OP
8. Scanner IP
9. Web Camera IP
10. Optical Mouse IP
Assignment
29. ASSIGNMENT
In your activity notebook, list down other kinds of
input devices and output devices by using this
table to list down you answers. You may research
on the internet for reference. This is to be passed
and checked by next meeting.
