  I	
  started	
  my	
  journey	
  through	
  the	
  
MCBS	
  program	
  I	
  wanted	
  to	
  do	
  something	
  I	
  was	
  
good	
  at	
  but	
  didn’t	
  have	
  any	
  direc1on	
  that	
  
appealed	
  to	
  me.	
  	
  
It	
  was	
  while	
  I	
  worked	
  as	
  a	
  Media	
  Coordinator	
  at	
  a	
  
Orlando	
  radio	
  sta1on	
  that	
  I	
  started	
  to	
  find	
  my	
  way	
  
into	
  the	
  media	
  industry.	
  	
  
The	
  things	
  I	
  was	
  exposed	
  to	
  such	
  as	
  web	
  design,	
  
video	
  edi1ng,	
  social	
  media	
  campaigns	
  and	
  more	
  
made	
  me	
  realize,	
  this	
  was	
  a	
  space	
  where	
  I	
  felt	
  
most	
  crea3ve	
  and	
  at	
  home. 	
  
I	
  always	
  knew	
  I	
  wanted	
  to	
  learn	
  MORE	
  but	
  didn’t	
  want	
  to	
  
get	
  1ed	
  up	
  with	
  just	
  one	
  thing.	
  	
  
Mul1media	
  Careers	
  have	
  their	
  hands	
  in	
  so	
  much	
  that	
  I	
  felt	
  
it	
  was	
  the	
  right	
  fit.	
  	
  
I	
  studied	
  Hotel	
  Business	
  Administra1on	
  and	
  Paralegal	
  
Studies	
  at	
  Johnson	
  and	
  Wales	
  and	
  liked	
  it	
  but	
  it	
  
lacked	
  the	
  crea1vity	
  part	
  for	
  me.

  Technician	
  I	
  knew	
  my	
  wants	
  where	
  
all	
  over	
  the

  day

  years	
  later	
  an	
  old	
  friend	
  and	
  I	
  
reunited	
  here	
  in	
  Orlando	
  and	
  she	
  brought	
  me	
  
into	
  the	
  WORLD	
  OF	
  RADIO.	
  	
  
I	
  was	
  willing	
  to	
  try	
  anything	
  new	
  and	
  instantly	
  got	
  
some	
  of	
  what	
  i	
  wanted.	
  	
  
KQ103’S	
  MULTIMEDIA	
  DEPATMENT	
  
I	
  was	
  able	
  to	
  work	
  in	
  an	
  environment	
  where	
  daily	
  
CREATIVITY	
  was	
  needed.	
  	
  
While	
  working	
  with	
  
various	
  plaYorms	
  and	
  
media	
  I	
  was	
  tasked	
  to	
  
work	
  in	
  elements	
  that	
  
would	
  1e	
  in	
  digital,	
  
outdoor,	
  printed	
  and	
  
social	
  media	
  content	
  with	
  
aesthe1cally	
  appealing	
  
and	
  cohesive	
  promo1onal	
  
items.	
  	
  
While	
  I	
  felt	
  I	
  was	
  good	
  at	
  bringing	
  these	
  things	
  together,	
  
that	
  part	
  of	
  me	
  that	
  wanted	
  to	
  keep	
  learning	
  drove	
  me	
  to	
  
look	
  for	
  higher	
  learning	
  alterna3ves.

I	
  was	
  new	
  to	
  the	
  area	
  and	
  didn’t	
  have	
  enough	
  knowledge	
  of	
  
the	
  local	
  schools	
  to	
  make	
  an	
  informed	
  decision.	
  	
  
In	
  between	
  working	
  at	
  the	
  radio	
  sta1on	
  and	
  suppor1ng	
  
the	
  sta1ons	
  efforts	
  at	
  local	
  events	
  I	
  was	
  able	
  to	
  research	
  
schools	
  that	
  offered	
  bits	
  and	
  pieces	
  of	
  what	
  I	
  was	
  looking	
  
for	
  but	
  not	
  all	
  that	
  I	
  was	
  looking	
  for	
  in	
  one	
  place.	
  
Then	
  one	
  day	
  I	
  found	
  Full	
  Sail	
  University	
  it	
  had	
  my	
  kind	
  of	
  
interest	
  all	
  in	
  one	
  program.	
  	
  
I	
  instantly	
  saw	
  a	
  problem,	
  how	
  could	
  I	
  a]end	
  school	
  and	
  
s1ll	
  work	
  at	
  this	
  job?	
  The	
  choice	
  was	
  made	
  for	
  me	
  in	
  just	
  a	
  
few	
   months	
   1me.	
   The	
   radio	
   sta1on	
   was	
   sold	
   and	
   all	
   its	
  
employees	
  let	
  go.	
  	
  
I	
  then	
  looked	
  at	
  the	
  silver	
  
lining	
  of	
  this	
  event	
  and	
  
made	
  the	
  decision	
  to	
  go	
  to	
  
school	
  full-­‐1me	
  and	
  
wanted	
  to	
  enroll	
  in	
  the	
  
MCBS	
  program.	
  The	
  
journey	
  was	
  coming	
  to	
  a	
  
point	
  where	
  the	
  choice	
  to	
  
a]end	
  was	
  the	
  only	
  logical	
  
op1on	
  and	
  all	
  the	
  signs	
  
pointed	
  to	
  using	
  the	
  
Montgomery	
  G.I.	
  Bill	
  I	
  
earned	
  while	
  in	
  the	
  
military.	
  
A`er	
  working	
  through	
  all	
  the	
  
op1ons	
  and	
  gathering	
  all	
  the	
  
paperwork	
  I	
  made	
  the	
  choice	
  to	
  
a]end	
  and	
  was	
  accepted	
  into	
  the	
  
program.	
  Every	
  moment	
  there	
  
a`er	
  has	
  been	
  a	
  drop	
  of	
  sand

my	
  bucket

  knowledge

  want	
  and	
  need

  learn

  • 10. Then  one  day  9  years  later  an  old  friend  and  I   reunited  here  in  Orlando  and  she  brought  me   into  the  WORLD  OF  RADIO.    
  • 11. I  was  willing  to  try  anything  new  and  instantly  got   some  of  what  i  wanted.     KQ103’S  MULTIMEDIA  DEPATMENT  
  • 12. I  was  able  to  work  in  an  environment  where  daily   CREATIVITY  was  needed.    
  • 13. While  working  with   various  plaYorms  and   media  I  was  tasked  to   work  in  elements  that   would  1e  in  digital,   outdoor,  printed  and   social  media  content  with   aesthe1cally  appealing   and  cohesive  promo1onal   items.

  • 15. I  was  new  to  the  area  and  didn’t  have  enough  knowledge  of   the  local  schools  to  make  an  informed  decision.    
  • 16. In  between  working  at  the  radio  sta1on  and  suppor1ng   the  sta1ons  efforts  at  local  events  I  was  able  to  research   schools  that  offered  bits  and  pieces  of  what  I  was  looking   for  but  not  all  that  I  was  looking  for  in  one  place.  
  • 17. Then  one  day  I  found  Full  Sail  University  it  had  my  kind  of   interest  all  in  one  program.    
  • 18. I  instantly  saw  a  problem,  how  could  I  a]end  school  and   s1ll  work  at  this  job?  The  choice  was  made  for  me  in  just  a   few   months   1me.   The   radio   sta1on   was   sold   and   all   its   employees  let  go.    
  • 19. I  then  looked  at  the  silver   lining  of  this  event  and   made  the  decision  to  go  to   school  full-­‐1me  and   wanted  to  enroll  in  the   MCBS  program.  The   journey  was  coming  to  a   point  where  the  choice  to   a]end  was  the  only  logical   op1on  and  all  the  signs   pointed  to  using  the   Montgomery  G.I.  Bill  I   earned  while  in  the   military.

A`er  working  through  all  the   op1ons  and  gathering  all  the   paperwork  I  made  the  choice  to   a]end  and  was  accepted  into  the   program.  Every  moment  there   a`er  has  been  a  drop  of  sand  in   my  bucket  of  knowledge  filling  up   my  want  and  need  to  learn  and  do   mul1ple  things.  The  crea3vity  I’d   been  looking  for  is  built-­‐in  to  this   program  and  the  ques1ons  of  why   and  how  are  being  answered  at   each  step.    
  • 21. The  Journey   I  am  closer  to  reaching  the  goal  I  set  for   myself  long  ago…
