Chapter 7 memory and studying retaining what you learn

Every student experiences the frustration of working hard to remember something that seems
irrelevant.
• How do you handle this?
- I personally don’t struggle with this situation so often, even though that sometimes
because I might be so tired or exhausted I deal with the frustration of not remembering
some things. I try to stay calm and focus on what I have to remember, putting all my
thoughts in order.
• How should you handle it?
- I should choose a system that will cause me to engage actively with the material.
- Apply journalists’ questions to design my study plan.
o When?
How much time do I need and what time of day is best?
Choosing a time close to original learning
Know when to stop studying
o Where? Minimize distractions
o Who? Alone or in groups? Follow guidelines for working in groups
o What and why? Choose prioritized materials to study
o How? Use strategies that work for me.
• What memorization techniques do you resist trying?
- Working in groups.
• Is it because they seem too unrelated to the information, or too goofy?
- I focus more studying by myself.

- I believe we all have it in different ways, it’s just that we have being negligent in our regular
live of study. But its very supportive learning this things.
