Hi, I’m Andi.
ABOUT ME:
Thanks for taking the time to view my portfolio. Hopefully you’ll understand
how much I care about the work I do and why I love my job so much.
In short, I’m a highly motivated designer; developer and consultant. I have
enjoyed working with a wealth of different organisations from independent
small businesses to large corporations and local charities.
I have three years of agency experience building websites for leading
retailers; international organisations as well as local small and
medium sized businesses and charities.
Throughout the past six years, alongside the agency work, I have
been working as a freelance designer and developer - drawing on
my agency experiences, working alongside some extremely talented
designers, to expand my skills and hone my creativity.
I provide consultancy to organisations on how they can get the most
out of their website by understanding where it’s currently letting
them down and advising on how to address those issues.
Alongside the digital work I enjoy working with my clients on print
marketing materials - such as brochures; timetable booklets and
business stationary.
I feel passionately about the quality of work that I produce, always
going the extra mile for my clients. It may sometimes takes me a
little longer than most to create the work I do as I am picky about the
little details, always ensuring things are done right.
I’m available for hire and looking to work with organisations that are
opentochangeandseekingtoimprovetheirprofessionalappearance.

Mangopear creative
ABOUT ME:
www.mangopear.co.uk
When I started freelancing in 2009, Mangopear creative was the guise I started using.
Cut to 2015 and Mangopear is much more professional!
An in-experienced developer starting a new career at the tender age of just 15, I quickly enhanced my
skills and starting working with various organisations - within six months I was already designing and
developing websites for companies worth millions of pounds.
Dedicating my spare time to honing my creative skills it wasn’t long after
finishing school that I began working in a Winchester-based agency, Alniro.
Alongside long working weeks at Alniro, my freelance commitments grew
and grew - until late 2014 when I made the decision to leave Alniro.
During the first few months of full time self-employment, I secured two big
contracts - a reassuring start to what promises to be a successful enterprise.

www.gardbus.co.uk
Since 2012, I have been working with Gardbus, a local independent bus company, who
operate a fleet of modern buses in and around Ringwood, The New Forest and East Dorset.
Gardbus
CLIENT WORK:
The initial brief was to create a distinctive brand identity for Gardbus,
ensuring that they stand out against the other bus and coach operators
in their area. This included creating a logo that could be applied across
various mediums - including their buses.
The branding was accompanied by a two-tone vehicle livery
that reflects the modern and professional approach of the
company.
Following the success of the branding exercise, we kicked off
the website refresh, incorporating the new branding and colour
scheme whilst enhancing the content on the website by adding
We’ve been working with Andi
and Mangopear creative since 2012 and we’re
extremely impressed with all of the work he has produced for us.
His insight and creativity has vastly improved our website and
we’re seeing impressions increase month on month.

I have also been tasked, on
many occasion, to create a range
of timetable leaflets and booklets for the
Gardbus network. These timetable guides have
included detailed route maps like the one to the right.
These timetables have been well received by the Gardbus
team and, more importantly, their passengers. The Gardbus
timetable booklets often much more informative and
professional than the biggest operators in the Gardbus
operating area.

www.purelytutors.co.uk
PurelyTutors
CLIENT WORK:
A safe and secure environment for parents and students to look for experienced and
qualified tutors online. Never has it been easier to find the right tutor for you.
The Purely Tutors web application will allow tutors to sign up and create a detailed profile for students and
parents to search for; students and parents can then arrange tutoring sessions using the bespoke safe
and secure messaging system.
The website makes great use of various open-source WordPress plugins
to create an intuitive sign up process and provide a very powerful search
for students to find their right tutor. Users will even be able to create an
account using their social media profile.
This brand new venture will be launching during the course of May
2015. You can find out more about how the system will work on Twitter
- @PurelyTutors.
Do you have an idea for a complex website and not sure how
to deliver it on a budget? Get in touch today to discuss your
requirements and see how Mangopear can help you!

www.jeakins.com
A family-run coach operator based in the heart of Surrey looking
for a refreshed website; professional brochures and standardised
procedural; admin and legal forms.
Jeakins Coach Travel
CLIENT WORK:
The initial request was for a brand new website to encourage people to make a booking
request online and to find out more about Jeakins Coach Travel. What followed was a
series of requests for brochures explaining the services that Jeakins offer.
There are also a series of documents that Jeakins use on a daily basis - such as
vehicle defect cards - that Jeakins wanted to look more professional. Such a good job
was done on these documents that they were praised by a DVSA Inspector.
Andi North has been responsible for the administrative phased
re-branding of Jeakins Coach Travel. This has involved front of house and back
office publications.
We are extremely satisfied with the consistently high standard of his product and
the fact that Andi has grown to share the board’s values, ‘isms’ and expectations.

The Urban Vocal Group
CLIENT WORK:
One of the third sector organisations that I am proud to support through
Mangopear. The UVG are a free to join vocal group for people aged 11 - 18.
Back in 2012 I created the first version of The Urban Vocal Group website - a simple design with advanced
content control for the team at The UVG to enhance the website as they saw fit. The website evolved
over the coming years with many more pages and much more interactive content -
including SoundCloud audio clips from events.
Between the launch of the website and early 2015 there were only small
tweaks to the design but in 2015 the website had a design refresh - giving
the website a slight makeover. Subtle changes that help make the website
look more modern.
I have supported The Urban Vocal Group by providing free consultancy;
free design and free top-tier domain, website and email hosting.
Are you a third sector organisation that wants to work with a
modern, professional agency? Get in touch today.

Silk Web Toolkit
CLIENT WORK:
A pure HTML5 content management system built for security, performance and ease of
use. I’ve been involved with the Silk Web Toolkit open source project since its conception
and have helped to sculpt it into what it is today.
Utilising my experience with some of the most popular content management systems in the world, I have
been consulting with the team behind the Silk project. I have also been designing the new
GUI for the Silk application which users will use to edit their website.
Building upon my experiences - both negative and positive - of using
WordPress, the Silk Web Toolkit is becoming a nifty tool for content curation.
The project is still very much in its infancy at the moment though.
Helping the open source community is something I hold deep to my heart
as I use open source software every day! It’s only right that I give something
back to the community that benefits me so much.

Javelin Group
AGENCY WORK:
Late 2013 Alniro’s biggest client asked for a new website - the Javelin Group wanted to update their
online presence. I was chosen to build the website as the most experienced developer in the agency.
The brief was for a responsive website built using the latest techniques to ensure it worked across an ever
increasing spectrum of devices and browsers whilst also being easy to update.
The chosen content management system, WordPress, had been heavily
customised to allow the client to control every snippet of text shown on
the website, whilst advanced caching techniques were used to ensure the
website was quick to load - every time.
The website teamed great design with stunning animations and transitions
to create a slick, great looking interface for a very corporate client.
I was responsible for the development of the website; content population
and training the client on how to get the most out of WordPress. I also
trained the Alniro team of developers on how to edit the website and
created supporting documentation explaining the complex data structure
that powers the website.

Totton College
AGENCY WORK:
Breaking the mould from the traditional higher education digital style, Totton College
wanted a visually striking website to make them stand out from the rest.
Working alongside a very experienced team of ASP specialists, I developed the front end of the new
Totton website and handed over the expertly crafted HTML and CSS to the back-end team. Working in an
agile way to bring the website to life, the project was fast paced and ran very smoothly.
The website designs were quite challenging to develop, mostly due to the
vast array of angular elements, requiring in-depth knowledge of how different
browsers display modern styling techniques.
Teamed with a range of transitions and scrolling effects, the new Totton
College website was very well received by the staff and students alike.
During this project I developed the complete front end and aided during the
testing stages of the project - fixing any bugs that arose during integration
and improving the user experience after usability testing took place.

Hitachi Capital
AGENCY WORK:
Alniro’s first bespoke responsive website built from the ground up for Hitachi Capital
Driving Instructor Solutions using WordPress as its content management system.
The Hitachi Capital Driving Instructor Solutions website was built to support devices as small as the original iPhone and
as large as our clients’ 27 inch Mac’s. The first bespoke responsive website that was built at Alniro, my
knowledge with previous bespoke responsive builds was integral to the success of
the build.
The website designer, a colleague at Alniro, relied on my experience of
responsive websites whilst working on the project and often asked for
my opinion on whether a certain technique would work or how we could
improve a particular design feature - such as managing how images would
scale on different devices.
On this project I was responsible for the complete development of the
website and training the client to manage the content and imagery
contained within the website. I also provided support to the team at
Hitachi Capital with managing requests sent through the website.

Thorold Dewling
AGENCY WORK:
One of the first websites I built at Alniro, Thorold Dewling is a recruitment agency
specialising in Oil and Gas workers, they’re based in Winchester.
The Thorold Dewling website has its own bespoke WordPress theme with a wide variety of subtle animations
and transitions to improve the user experience. Amongst the features of the website is the stunning
imagery - optimised for delivery across a wide variety of networks.
Job board software is at the heart of the website and a clear customer
journey is prescribed to encourage users to view and apply for positions. The
client has full control over the positions and an intuitive editing experience
means the website is updated effortlessly.
The website was only built to support desktop devices but does not break
when viewed on mobile devices.
On this project I was responsible for all of the website development
and sourcing the appropriate open source plugins to complement the
functionality required by the client.

The Business Collective is a third sector organisation for business and charities
to work together with brokerages controlled from their WordPress website.
The Business Collective website uses a unique combination of Job Board software; a bespoke login and account creation
system and advanced forms to allow the website to be self-serving - meaning little to no admin for the team
at The Business Collective.
Combining striking visuals; beautiful animations and an intuitive
customer journey the website is in a class of its own. This is another
website designed by the brilliant senior designer at Alniro.
The website was built entirely by myself using WordPress and a variety
of open source plugins to create the user registration and brokerage
publication systems.
