This document presents a design for a wheelchair bicycle. The design aims to help physically challenged individuals move around more easily by transporting a wheelchair user on the front of a bicycle. The wheelchair user would sit in a seat at the front of the bicycle while the rider pedals and steers from behind. Additional features like colors, safety belts, and foot fixation can be customized. The design is meant to provide independent mobility in a healthy, eco-friendly and low-impact way. Diagrams and drawings of the proposed wheelchair bicycle design are included.
3. DESIGN BRIEF-
The physically challenged people, who use a normal wheelchair for navigation, usually require an external
person to move around so it will help for transport a wheelchair user. The wheelchair/passenger sits in
the seat on the front side of the cycle. A front seat can also be sepreted, if required. The rider can watch
over the passenger and has a good view of the road. The gradually sloping front wheels give the cycle
extra comfort and stability while riding. The wheelchair bicycle can be completely customized using
various options. For example: different colours, safety belt, foot fixation.
BACKGROUND OF THE SUBJECT-
Wheelchair bicycle which will help people in many ways like it will help in carring old age, disable
person, young child and any kind of goods.Cycling is easy to fit into your daily routine by riding to the
shops, park or school. It is healthy, fun and a low-impact form of exercise for all age.It is a pollution free
transport. It is stable, safe and easy to use.

8. INTRODUCTION
A bicycle, also called a bike or cycle, is a human-powered or motor-powered, pedal-driven, single-track vehicle,
having two wheels attached to a frame, one behind the other. A bicycle rider is called a cyclist, or bicyclist.
Bicycles were introduced in the 19th century in Europe, and by the early 21st century, more than 1 billion were
in existence at a given time.
OBJECTIVE-
In human transportation as a personalized vehicle.
For inter departmental transportation in huge campuses.
In industries for different level personnel to move around to inspect the work progress.
In hospitals,airports,shoping malls,it campus,hostels & resorts,power station,manufacturing unit,etc.
Light weight & easy to control, makes conventional for use by anyone.
Controlled speed ensures rider’s safety.
Cab be used by old aged demography.
On site charging facility,no need to visit fuel station.
RESEARCH ON BICYCLE-
9. HISTORY-
The "dandy horse", also called Draisienne or Laufmaschine, was the first human means of transport to
use only two wheels in tandem and was invented by the German Baron Karl von Drais. It is regarded as
the first bicycle, but it did not have pedals.
In the early 1860s, Frenchmen Pierre Michaux and Pierre Lallement took bicycle design in a new
direction by adding a mechanical crank drive with pedals on an enlarged front wheel (the velocipede).
The first mechanically-propelled, two-wheeled vehicle may have been built by Kirkpatrick MacMillan, a
Scottish blacksmith, in 1839.
The French vélocipède, made of iron and wood, developed into the "penny-farthing" (historically known
as an "ordinary bicycle
10. TYPES-
Bicycles can be categorized in many different ways: by function, by number of riders, by general
construction, by gearing or by means of propulsion. The more common types include utility
bicycles, mountain bicycles, racing bicycles, touring bicycles, hybrid bicycles, cruiser bicycles, and BMX
bikes. Less common are tandems, low riders, tall bikes, fixed gear, folding models, amphibious
bicycles, freight bicycles, recumbents and electric bicycles.
USES-
From the beginning and still today, bicycles have been and are employed for many uses. In a utilitarian
way, bicycles are used for transportation, bicycle commuting, and utility cycling. It can be used as a 'work
horse', used by mail carriers, paramedics, police, messengers, and general delivery services. Military uses
of bicycles include communications, reconnaissance, troop movement, supply of provisions, and patrol.
The bicycle is also used for recreational purposes, such as bicycle touring, mountain biking, physical
fitness, and play. Bicycle competition includes racing, BMX racing, track racing, criterium, roller
racing, sportives and time trials. Major multi-stage professional events are the Giro d'Italia, the Tour de
France, the Vuelta a España, the Tour de Pologne, and the Volta a Portugal. ement, supply of provisions,
and patrol.

12. INTRODUCTION-
A wheelchair is a chair with wheels to help people move around. It is used by individuals who have
impairments that limit their ability to walk .It typically consists of a seat supported on two large
wheels attached towards the back of the seat and two small wheels(castors)in front near the feet
,a good breaking system ,footrests and a cushion. There are often small additional features to
prevent toppling or to assist in mounting curbs. The user moves by pushing with his/her hands
circular bar on the outside of the large wheels, known sa the hand-rim or push rings.Wheellchair is
truly is mobility orthosis.
RESEARCH ON WHEELCHAIR-
13. HISTORY-
The earliest records of wheeled furniture are an inscription found on a stone slate in China and a
child's bed depicted in a frieze on a Greek vase, both dating between the 6th and 5th century
BCE.
Although Europeans eventually developed a similar design, this method of transportation did not
exist until 1595.
In 1655, Stephan Farffler, a 22-year-old paraplegic watchmaker, built the world's first self-
propelling chair on a three-wheel chassis using a system of cranks and cogwheels.
In 1933 Harry C. Jennings, Sr. and his disabled friend Herbert Everest, both mechanical engineers,
invented the first lightweight, steel, folding, portable wheelchair.
The foremost electric wheelchair was invented by George Klein with the purpose to help the
wounded soldiers of the World War 2 with time ,it has evolved into many designs and forms.
14. TYPES-
There are a wide variety of types of wheelchair, differing by propulsion method, mechanisms of control,
and technology used. Some wheelchairs are designed for general everyday use, others for single
activities, or to address specific access needs.eg.,
Manual self-propelled wheelchairs
Manual attendant-propelled wheelchairs
Powered wheelchairs
Mobility scooters
Single-arm drive wheelchairs
Reclining and tilting wheelchairs
Standing wheelchairs
Sports wheelchairs
Powerchair football
Wheelchair stretchers
All-terrain wheelchairs
